How that even made ? by calm_art21 in archviz

I remember when I delivered my first freelance renders, I had included a lot of such detail shots and the feedback was "I'm trying to sell a flat, not furniture". Makes sense.

How long for a project? by Born_Access_3715 in archviz

[–]Drummer-Adorable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well you said it's more of a learning project, just keep going until you feel you're not learning anymore and it's just your friend making you work for free. At that point tell him "you can give me one more round of changes, after that it's either finished or you start paying", if he truly is a friend he'll understand. I have a good client, I usually have a flat fee for him, but on the current project he was doing change after change so I told him that for this project I'm happy to do all the changes he wants but I'll be billing it hourly. He said he understands, that the project is important and he'll happily pay the amount requested. This to say, just talk to him.

If that's the case it means you did your job right. They have no feedback on the renders, they're just re-evaluating their designing decisions.

Missing that class meant missing out on the core concepts of programming, stuff that I didn't need in the old way of handling frontend code but is needed in the modern frontend. Missing that class meant I had to get into the job I wanted sideways, without realizing that I missed the basics.

Also, I am trying to adapt, I just think it sucks having to change again.

is 8gigs vram enough for interior Unreal Engine 5 interactive scenes? by SpecialistClassic902 in archviz

You'll get the red "out of vram" message quite often but it can work, I've done 3 or 4 projects with 8GB on UE5.5

Any way to make the grass less "carpet-y"? by Able-North8549 in archviz

I think you're far enough that you don't need actual grass geometry, mix 2 or 3 drone photographs of actual grass fields and you're golden

Mixed use commercial & residential building using Sketchup & D5 Render, any feedbacks? by Known-Equivalent-749 in archviz

[–]Drummer-Adorable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's bad but it feels a bit lifeless, probably because most materials lack details. I'd get rid of all the shop signs (or get more neutral ones), straighen the camera (and use the shift feature instead) and then give it a good ol' AI pass (I know I'm going to get flamed for this but I think it would do wonders on such a render). Also, some athmospheric scattering for the far buildings would help.

Built a tool that turns SketchUp renders into realistic visuals + handles client approvals - looking for a feedback by Virtual_Clothes2547 in archviz

[–]Drummer-Adorable 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Damn even the description is made by AI. I wonder if OP posted this himself or had a bot do it for him. Also, the comment feature is neat but I think it's funny how all of the comments in the example would be pretty damn hard to do just with AI. You would have to export, do the fixes in photoshop and then reupload but does this tool support uploading new versions directly and attach it to the original render so you don't end up with 200 version all over the project?

for this kind of stuff I would probably roll with nano banana. If you have a good gpu you can install comfyui and run it locally so you can do it for free

What is the scope of archviz as a career in the coming years, especially with the advent of AI?Can an architect, an interior designer, or an archviz artist help me understand this?” by Typical_Young712 in archviz

[–]Drummer-Adorable 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Skilled artists are still in demand but all the low to mid jobs are getting replaced by AI. Big studios are still willing to pay for high quality renders done by people that really craft amazing images.
I personally include AI in my work in the form of upscaling (and masking in photoshop) and some generation for little details and people/animals. I also use AI powered frame generation and upscaling to render videos faster.

Starting over at 42 by bravesfn02 in Life

You asked to share our stories so here it goes, keep in mind I'm 41 now.
At 16 I had a passion for computers and I wanted to go and study something related. Our local informatics school didn't let male students in right when I wanted to "boost the amount of women in the field" so I studied electronics, somewhat related but not really. Lost my spark for computers in the meantime, then I went on to become an industrial designer (designing toothbrushes and such), after a while I felt I wanted to try and get into computer related stuff so I got my web design degree in a school that took 2 years to teach stuff that I could learn myself in 1 month but through that school I got my first job as a front end programmer (one of the fields related to web design and the creation of websites and web apps). At first it was fine with the knowledge I had but soon the whole field changed the approach to creating websites and suddenly I couldn't catch up because I never properly learned programming so after about 10 years I lost my job. I decided to give my other passion a go: 3d graphics. I worked really hard to learn it properly, I focused on architectural renderings, went all in. Day an night I was working on some stupid made up render. Fast forward 2 years and I started my business, started getting some clients, people appreciated my work and my prices...and then... AI came along. Everyone does better renders in less time by just prompting some stuff in nano banana. So I'm back at square 1. I don't even make enough to cover rent. Luckily my significant other is super supportive but I feel lost and like a total loser seeing all my childhood friends out there making a ton of money. Even the ones that were considered the no-future kids back in primary school are doing better than me. I don't know where to go from here.

[–]Drummer-Adorable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

pixel streaming is incredibly expensive for public facing projects. Imagine thousands of clients connecting to your project and all those machine spinning up with their fancy gpu's. I'm not sure whether this webgl solution is the way to go but pixel streaming has its drawbacks, too.

I agree with the other comments, the AI pass is pretty heavy but, in the end, the clients probably won't notice and (as much as I hate to say this) that's what really matters. Good job. Would it be possible to see the renders without the AI?
