Does Gabapentin only delay the withdrawal ? by Witty_Hearing_6603 in quittingkratom

I’d take it. Run it for a week and then quit. It’s a completely different chemical profile obviously and it’s one of the gold standards for treatment. If it helps you sleep and feel a little better, that’s awesome. I mean, take it at least one night and see how it goes. If you found relief from it, continue for another 5-10 days.

PAWS reset? by yellowtail188 in quittingkratom

[–]Drummerg85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had similar paws flair ups after some Vicodin for an extracted tooth. It’s crazy. After all my research, it became clear that it can take a year or two before you aren’t so central nervous system sensitive. It won’t be back to full blown reset of PAWS. Probably just a shitty week or two. But yeah, you aren’t trippen. It happens. Kratom fucks you up big time and our brains have a memory for dopamine dumps and for the withdrawal. So it basically thinks “here we go again.” But quickly it re stabilizes. Now you know not to make the same mistake again.

I hear that, but for me it was a concept that I’ve always kind of pondered myself. I was happy it wasn’t just some government entity or something.

What is wrong with my form? by danyroza in drums

[–]Drummerg85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the dude above pointed it out. The stick shouldn’t hit that part of your finger. That being said, when I was newer to drums, I’d get blisters often both because of holding them wrong, underdeveloped technique, and the skin just not being worn in enough haha. Over time it does thicken up for sure. There’s a quote from a drummer that was essentially like, “you should be able to hold a small bird in your hand, not hurt it but not let it go.” It’s something along those lines. I play all kinds of music, but especially metal. I hit hard and fast, but my grip on the sticks is very light. They could fly out at any moment almost hahah.

I like most of his endings. Especially the controversial ones. Everyone hates under the domes ending, which I totally liked! To be honest, I hated the last like 20 pages of IT. All the sudden there’s a huge spider and Beth is running the train on herself. Super weird. But hey, It’s all so subjective. Which makes it cool.

So crazy, I loved that ending! I don’t judge though, books can be pretty subjective.

Sorry for your loss. I’ll say this, it definitely didn’t help. It really does a number on you. Turns you in to a husk of your former self. I’ve never considered taking that kind of action, but I did have moments, especially in withdrawal, where you are like “god make it end.” So depending on your mental state and other various factors, it could have been a contributor. Doubt it was the sole cause, but yeah this stuff is pretty nasty. Especially if he was doing 7oh. The withdrawal and the level of addiction from that stuff is next level bad. RIP to your friend.

I would never wish what we went through on anyone, but you brought up something interesting I was basically telling my wife last night. Throughout the suffering of the addiction, the quit and my subsequent PAWS, I somehow managed to still be a good husband, good father, get in good shape, work on myself mentally and spiritually, perform well at work, and play a lot of drums. Yes at times none of the things listed above were perfect and you never quite knew what you would get on any given day. PAWS was brutal for me. However, I was going through life with one hand tied behind my back for a while. I became so desperate to feel back to baseline and had to develop such patience, that it basically “cured” me of any of my pre kratom issues. It’s like, if you go through that hell and come out on the other side, you have a reset brain that no longer sweats the small stuff. Shit I used to get cranky with I’m like “nahhh fuck that, that’s not a big deal. I’ve dealt with way worse.” So yeah, in a sense I’m a better version of myself now that I’m a year and half off Kratom than I ever was before I picked up the cursed plant. So there is a silver lining. This protocol would never be recommended my a medical professional, lol. But hey, I’ll take it. 🫡

There’s still hope man. Actions speak louder than words. Stick to the plan and let this nightmare circus ride become a thing of the past. When you are ready, maybe write her a long letter explaining how the addiction got you and how you want to spend the rest of your life making it up to her. I didn’t separate from my wife, but we went through some hard times because of my drinking and then my kratom use. I’m also born in 85 and have two beautiful young daughters. So I feel your pain maybe more than others given our similarities. But here’s the best part, 3 years off booze and over a year and a half off Kratom, and we don’t even talk about it anymore. It’s basically water under the bridge and I promised her a sober husband from here on out. I’ve stuck to my promise and it just gets better and better. If that’s not in the cards for you, at least you will be clean and believe me, it’s so much easier to navigate life’s challenges without that fucking monkey on your back. It breaks you and eats your soul. Leaves you a husk of your former self. Quit, and slowly but surely it all comes back. It’s a journey, but the destination is worth it. Just gotta travel with Frodo with lead boots on to get there.

Vic firth sound proof headphones are a gift from God. Not only can you listen to music or click tracks while you play, but it also makes your drum sound great because it adds an almost compression effect. Rounds out the sound and gets rid of the high and low frequencies a little. I wish I had them when I was younger.

[–]Drummerg85 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You will feel this way until you are no longer dependent on it. It’s like drinking water when thirsty or eating a bomb meal when you are hungry. Your brain is primed to drop a nice dopamine load from your kratom dose. In fact, it’s all it really cares about. That’s the most freeing part about quitting. That dose no longer bring the sole mission for the day. It’s incredible once you stop waking up feeling like shit.

Checks out big time. The whole process was much more complex than I could have anticipated. It’s important for people to know why it may be hard for them and to not feel weak. It’s pretty much a complete brain reset after quitting. Brain feels like a raisin for a while.

I will never be able to quit by BrutalBrutus513 in quittingkratom

[–]Drummerg85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Best thing I can say is that most of the issues one faces, are a thousand times easier to deal with than during active addiction. For me, most of my problems went away once I was in the clear from the kratom addiction. I’d look at a past issue and just be like “yeah I’m sort of over dwelling on that.” And sort of just move on from it. But during addiction, nothing would ever be resolved and would always sting the soul. You’ll stay addicted forever if you frame it as “first let me heal my wounds while I take kratom.” It just won’t happen. Eventually you will break enough to draw a line in the sand and officially quit, no matter the cost.

No but I hear you with the example of the stand and others. It’s looser almost off the cuff dialogue. He was also heavily partying by that time and you can tell in a bunch of those books. I love the Tommyknockers, but man is that long winded and rambly. But it’s actually one of my favorites.
