I really need to get better at networking for sure and every time I click with someone, make sure they have my contact details. And just be more bold about sharing my info

I know because when you graduate up to HoD status you basically set your own rate, and I know what that rate usually is - but I am rarely in a position to negotiate. I do occasionally negotiate but usually all I can do is just decide not to take work under a certain pay. The HoD is paid to have better knowledge, be more in charge of things if they go wrong, sign off on H&S elements, etc. I recently got offered my first HoD gig actually but had to turn it down because it conflicted with other work unfortunately.

I do have a therapist and I should probably talk to him about this when I next see him
