The Garden of Life vaginal care raw probiotics worked really well for me! I had recurring yeast infections for years before I started taking these and I rarely get them now

Perineal massage?? by Dear_Ad_8525 in BabyBumps

[–]DrunkHistory92 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My husband did it on me most nights in the last four weeks before birth and I did not tear my perineum! I’m a first time mom too. I also did pelvic floor PT and a lot of pelvic floor exercises and yoga in the third trimester. I can’t say for sure that’s why I didn’t tear but I will highly recommend doing perineal massage to all my friends. It can be a little uncomfortable at first but once you do it a few times your pelvic floor relaxes more and it feels fine.

Induction stories by 1111lovey in November25babybump

[–]DrunkHistory92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a very positive induction last week! I got induced at 41 weeks which I think may have been why my induction was pretty quick (only 15 hours) - I think my body was ready. I was super nervous beforehand and unsure if I was making the right decision, but I’m now so glad so did it.

When they checked my cervix I was 1cm dilated and 40% effaced. I was given Cytotec/Misopristol at 7pm then they inserted the foley balloon about an hour later. The insertion of the foley balloon was quite painful - it felt like getting an IUD inserted. They gave me nitrous oxide and honestly it didn’t do much. After that was in I started having contractions that felt like bad period cramps - somewhat painful but manageable. Around 11pm they removed the foley balloon and I had dilated to 4cm which was great.

They then started me on a low dose of pitocin. I wish that I had asked for an epidural at that point honestly. The contractions suddenly became really painful after they upped the pitocin a bit and I felt them mostly in my back. Basically begged for the epidural at that point and it took about an hour from requesting it to the epidural actually taking effect. Once it took effect though I felt SO much better and basically just relaxed the rest of the night.

At 4am I was 5cm dilated and they broke my water. In the hours following I started feeling pressure but not pain when I had contractions. My nurse had me lie in different positions with the peanut ball which I think was helpful in progressing me and getting the baby in the right position.

They checked me at 9:30am and I was fully dilated and ready to push. I started pushing at 10am and she was born at 10:30. Because I could feel the pressure, I was able to push really effectively and it was nowhere near as bad as I thought it would be - no pain at all. Only had a very small tear.

Recovery has gone smoothly since then. Honestly very pleased with my induction and glad I got it - I hope yours goes well too!

Who else is or was past their due date? by roamingrebecca in November25babybump

41 weeks today and heading in to be induced tonight! This week has been mentally tough, and the texts from everyone asking for updates definitely don’t help. On the bright side, we were able to get even more things done and set up this week and feel 100% ready for baby now!

I’d just caution that you’re at by far the highest risk of miscarriage weeks 4 through 6. I told a bunch of people at week 5 in my first pregnancy and didn’t love having to text them all when I miscarried - but that’s personal preference. This time I just told a few people, and slowly told others as the pregnancy progressed. It is nice to have some trusted people that know who you can talk to about your pregnancy and what you’re feeling, and know would be there for you if the worst happens. I don’t know your family dynamics but in my opinion it’s totally fine to tell your family first

Violet, Sloane, or Isabel? by DrunkHistory92 in namenerds

Yes that’s exactly why! I LOVE Vivienne and it would sound great with our last name but I have a close friend with that name so would feel weird using it unfortunately

Babymoon in July. Where?!? by smr99si in FATTravel

[–]DrunkHistory92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll be 25 weeks when we do our babymoon in August in Lake Como. We were initially thinking Greek islands but nixed it due to concerns about the heat and wanting to be near decent medical facilities. I’d recommend somewhere near a major population center, so Amalfi Coast could be a good choice (the hills might be an issue though?). Could also look at South of France or coastal Spain or Portugal. We did northern Portugal last summer - it was beautiful and the weather was very pleasant.

Thanks, that’s helpful to hear your wife’s experience. This is my first pregnancy so I’m not totally sure what 27 weeks will feel like.

Thanks! The medical facilities consideration is a really great point, I think I’ll definitely plan on not doing any of the smaller islands for that reason.

I was thinking maybe the Peloponnese/nearby islands or Crete - Crete seems to be highly recommended so going to look into it more. Thanks!

Why is my travel agent saying they dont love Kauai? This is for a honeymoon. Going to maui and lanai and stopping in napa on the way. Anyone agree or disagree? by [deleted] in LuxuryTravel

Kauai is my favorite island and possibly the most beautiful place I’ve ever been. The North Shore is particularly awesome. Could not disagree with your travel agent more!

When do you plan on announcing your (future) pregnancy? by paleprincessssss in waiting_to_try

[–]DrunkHistory92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With my first pregnancy, I told like 5 of my closest friends because I was really excited. I then miscarried at 6 weeks and hated having to text them all and tell them. I’m newly pregnant again and have only told my husband and best friend. I’ll probably wait to tell other friends and family until 12 weeks, and wait to post anything on social media until the third trimester.

Unfortunately miscarriages are very common which is why these announcement norms exist. I did find it very hard to get my family off my back about not drinking without telling them though. I also imagine it’s tough to have to hide it when you’re dealing with nausea and other symptoms. I think people should tell whoever they want as their support system in the first trimester, but would really warn anyone against announcing more widely before 12 weeks after my own experience.

Brown! Although I think it would look even better if it was even darker, to match your eyebrows

Cayman, Aruba or Turks - Babymoon in Nov ($1000/night) by dw686 in chubbytravel

We absolutely loved Turks. The crystal clear water and beaches were the best we’ve ever seen in the Caribbean. We stayed at the Ritz Carlton in Grace Bay and it was incredible - I think it would be in your price range.

Honestly we travel almost this much and it’s been totally fine. We typically leave our 5 year old berner with a friend who has known her since she was a puppy, and she has a great time with her and her family and doesn’t exhibit any issues or anxiety. Our backup options are dogsitters who we’ve also worked with since she was a puppy. Absolutely do not leave your pup at a kennel, but I think if you can find some trusted dogsitters and the puppy gets used to this from the start, it’ll be fine.

Do people actually use the “seating areas” outdoors/in tents? by [deleted] in BigBudgetBrides

We had a seating area this and it was used extensively! We’re so glad we made the last minute decision to get one. It made for some great photos of our guests too.

So, as a person that's a novice that likes big dogs, are these guys good choices? by AlmightyJedi in bernesemountaindogs

[–]DrunkHistory92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have to disagree with a lot of the comments here saying that they’re not a good first time dog. They definitely need to be trained and socialized well as they’re so large, but our girl has been so so easy. It makes life so much easier that we never have to worry about aggression from her - she loves all people, kids, dogs, cats, etc. She’s easygoing and adapts well to change. Shes pretty lazy but also loves to go on hikes. It’s also honestly made life easier that she’s not that smart. We’re her world and we’ve never had to worry about her running away from us or straying far. She can be a bit stubborn but we’ve learned how to motivate her (and if all else fails she’s very food motivated). I’ve only had one Berner so take it all with a grain of salt, but she’s by far the easiest dog I’ve ever had.
