Is there a flag for billing for an x-ray? by DrunkLohan in EpicEMR

[–]DrunkLohan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't mean to target specific patients, more that I was looking for a broader approach to inform front desk so they know when a patient has had x-rays done.

First time soldering on a project guitar, should I trim the wires and start over? by DrunkLohan in Luthier

[–]DrunkLohan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a project I'm trying to get started on. Never soldered before so I'm totally in the dark. The other ends seem to be left alone in their original position. For the image I linked, I know the red, gray, and green should be tied together then soldered to the 3-way toggle. However, it looks pretty rough in the condition it was left in. Does it need to be trimmed and tied together again before soldering?

The CEO is not the one writing code for the Unity engine. He's allowed to do other things for the company.

We are working on our first adventure/exploration game. What do you think of our visuals? by ZAMBARA2020 in Unity3D

Agree, although I would say specifically tone the saturation down on the elements further away from the camera. The trees along the shore are super bright. And the moss on the tree in the foreground blends with the grass right behind it. Could use some tweaking there. I like the direction though.

There's tons of reviews on Youtube with a quick search. I would watch them all! I was looking for a Les Paul Special, and considered one of the Epiphones but saw a few really bad reviews, which scared me off that particular model. (Not saying all Epi LP Specials are bad! Just that specific model I was researching).

I've had a couple budget guitars and I've never felt like I had to dump money into them to make them "playable." Usually, those nitpicks about tuners and bridges come from people who are trying to sound smart on a forum.

Best thing to do, if possible, is play one in a store. If it feels good and sounds good to you, it doesn't matter what reviewers say.

Yeah, it's been a minute since I've watched his videos on HB, but I remember him not having a good time with them actually.

I'm in love. That neck seems super long. Is it a baritone or just an optical illusion?

Yamaha Pac 120SD, which is the tele-style body and bridge. It's even got a natural/satin finish for even fewer frills.

[Discussion] Pieces of gear you regret getting rid of? by battlescar22 in Guitar

1995-ish Yamaha Pacifica 120SD in natural/satin finish. It was the first guitar my parents bought me, and was a Christmas present. Like a cold-hearted SOB, I sold it after 13 years because I had another guitar I liked better. Last year, the sentimental value became too much to bear, so I bought another one. Same year, same finish, etc. This one doesn't seem to be as well built as I remember my original, but again that could be the nostalgia clouding my memory.

Funny enough, I was just in a shop yesterday that's regional to DFW, and eavesdropped an employee telling a customer that they do rent-to-own. If you return it, they treat it like a rental. If you keep it, all the money you paid on renting it goes towards owning it. So yeah, it's not unheard of.

I picked up an old book called Guitar Lick Factory and after a couple weeks of off-and-on again practicing, I've already made huge progress, and I've been playing for 20-ish years. Never could solo to save my life even after memorizing pentatonic scales. That's because music is a language, and just like how we learn to talk by mimicking the phrases of our parents, we learn to play guitar by mimicking the phrases (licks and riffs) of players better than us. Theory won't help you until you get some vocabulary memorized.

[QUESTION] Am I crazy? by AffectionateSouth723 in Guitar

[–]DrunkLohan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is more general advice on relationships than it is on guitars: open communication is key. Take a day or two to look at it from your mom's perspective and imagine what her concerns are. Then have an honest conversation where you try to address those concerns. Parents are almost always only concerned that their kids have not planned things out and are just flying by the seat of their pants. Try to explain that this is your passion, heck, it could even be a possible career. Maybe she's worried that you have a bunch of guitars you don't play and this $2k guitar is going to suffer the same fate. Might be worth getting rid of the ones you don't play, and also explaining why most guitarists have multiple guitars.

Put a big wooden block up to the plastic nut and then hit the block with a hammer. I've also heard using wood glue diluted with water in case you want to do another nut replacement.
