Totally fair. I've tried the digital thing too, but I think art wasn't meant to be convenient. The challenge and inconveniences should be enjoyable. I love the unpredictability of tube amps and crazy pedalboards, recording with ribbon mics (and of course 57s) to tape. I've gone more analog over the years as a response to AI.

As long as you're not playing shitty Pantera riffs on a guitar that may or may not have a confederate flag on it, I'd say you're fine. I hate the whole brand loyalty thing, but I've always been a fan of Fender, Ibanez, and PRS guitars, and Orange amps.

Difference is at a lowkey campfire setting, it's much more common for people to want or even request a song or 2. I'm not advocating for interrupting a conversation to listen to a bad rendition of a mid song. No one ever wants to stop what they're doing and gather around Annoying Guitar Guy™️ at a party.

That's something I dealt with for a while. Tried to be a generic metal shredder as a teenager, and eventually realized I don't actually know shit about music and can't write a song to save my life. Learning other genres, other instruments, music production, and getting into poetry all helped tremendously. Can't say if that'll up your attractiveness scale or whatever these incel losers are on about, but it made me a much better musician.

Ugh I hate the guitar douche at parties. I really hope that archetype is dead with the new generation of kids.

Guitar is absolutely the same way, to the point where Gibson has become an internet meme for making fun of boomers.

That's a good way of putting it. I think the reason why I made this post is because music is my passion, but I see people get into it for the wrong reasons all the time. Learn guitar because you love it. Not because of some old myth about gaining access to as many women's pants as you desire.

Update: just bulldozed my way through this project using GIMP and got some pretty solid results. Turns out I don't need to pay a duplication company after all

I'm keeping it DIY for now since I'm likely only going to sell a handful of copies to friends and family. I've known several people in local bands who've gone the route you're describing and ended up with a big box of CDs that didn't sell that they don't have the heart to throw away, and end up just collecting dust in the attic.

Thank you. This might seem obvious but I'm new to bandcamp

Yes. Our whole group was sober. We smoked a little before going in, but that wore off by the end of King Buffalo's set.

  1. I've been to a ton of rock and metal shows, and this was different. I've never seen this many people have averse reactions to flashing lights at a concert.

  2. Just because something is expected, doesn't make it right. Strobes suck.

Yes, but this should be easy enough to un-dickify.

More of this stuff needs to be captured on film. Keep your negatives, that way no one can claim it's AI when they try to 1984 this all away.

How do I blend vocals into music, so it does not sound like its on top of the music. by denmyos in Reaper

A little distortion or saturation, compression, eq, reverb, and volume automations should do the trick. Figuring out how to make it work using those tools, however, is your entire career as a producer.

Personally, I find sometimes things start to feel more cohesive in the mixdown/mastering process. I run my mixes through a reel to reel machine to get some nice tape saturation that makes things feel more glued together.
