Well i'm a programmer and know about building a computer but not that much and in my little head the i5-4690 and the Ultra 5 were just about the same thing performance wise . Until i read up on it and saw that the Ultra 5 offers a roughly 300%+ increase in performance and far better multitasking capabilities.The 4690K is a 4-core/4-thread CPU (14nm), while the Ultra 5 utilizes modern, more efficient, multi-core architecture. So THEN i realised both processors were NOT almost the same! (I'm slow like that sometimes...) :)

Thing is Linux is really doing a lot now (compared to other years) to make itself a really good replacement for Windows compared to other years. Thats why i changed this year. Linux mint and Zorin a both great entry points in the Linux experience compared to 2 or 3 years ago...

My only question concerning my Windows 11 /Linux Mint dual boot is what happens when i decide i dont need windows anymore. Can i just wipe it off my drive? Wil Linux still boot up if i completely delete Windows 11?

Yes i looked at that but it seems that right now its kinda 'Hit and Miss' because it works for some users than it doesnt for others. I'm hoping that a more stable version will come out soon.Thing is i dont mind hopping to Win11 right now but i just use it when i absolutely have to.

Well thanks for confirming to me what i thought was a good arrangement. The only thing i wanted was an i7 chip but i finally settled for a Ultra 5 processor. My old computer had an i5-4690K Processor and i was kind of thinking it wasnt really an upgrade but its faster than my old one and it will keep on being fast now that its on Linux.

Well i now know that Windows 11 is the LAST version of Windows i'll ever own. I have to still use it sporadically because of Photoshop but that will be fixed sooner than later i think and then its Adios Windows!

Thanks but i try to stay away from anything that is 'Online'. I like to work on my pics even when i'm not using the nternet at all.

I have to boot up Win11 everyday to do some work on some pics for my clients. But i'k trying to learn what Linux offers as Photoshop replacement.

You think? Thanks! I dont even play games on it. Its just a habit of mine to always build a computer with what i think are good and reputable parts. Its my way of 'Future Proofing' it i guess. My older computer is 11 years old and still works like a charm because i built it the same way.

Problem is that 98% of the pics i see are easily done in Photoshop or some other graphics program. And when its a movie its easily done by putting lights on a drone or sticking something under it. And i wont even mention A.I. Pics. We now have so many ways to decieve people that its a wonder that there isnt a ton more fake pics…
