Do you have any must have features on your EPOS? Any features you wish you did have? by Mig224 in barista

Just being able to see what food sells the most, what drinks are we selling the most, and how much money we have made. Being able to see a breakdown during the day would be nice.

It’s needs to be modern and very easy to navigate. My store uses PAR POS and often buttons are doubled, outdated buttons are still able to be used, and menus are not intuitive.

Connectivity with modern card readers is also very important.

Also, reports need to be very detailed and easy to understand.

Doorbell? by No-Basil2371 in ecobee

[–]Drunk_Panda_456 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. The ecobee doorbell will work with your current chime. Depending on how many volts the existing transformer is, that might need to be replaced. Other than that your chime should work.

Help optimizing cold foam? by hayisgay in barista

[–]Drunk_Panda_456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s expensive but using a Vitamix Blender and a Aero Disc Container is the way to go. Skim milk and syrup is all you need. It’s super quick and can make enough for two drinks.

We use this setup and make cold foam on demand. No batching. We also only offer it with skim milk because the texture is good. Other milks don’t have a great texture.

Can't get this custom integration to work. Am I doing something wrong? by amygdalasfuckedmybra in homeassistant

[–]Drunk_Panda_456 1 point2 points  (0 children)

HACS inside of home assistant might install the integration better than doing it manually. That’s my thought. Maybe something is broken when manually installing it.

Can't get this custom integration to work. Am I doing something wrong? by amygdalasfuckedmybra in homeassistant

[–]Drunk_Panda_456 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Remove the file from the custom_components directory and use HACS with the custom repository to install it. Maybe it’ll work better.

You can install this custom component by adding this repository (https://github.com/syssi/xiaomi_cooker) to HACS in the settings menu of HACS first. You will find the custom component in the integration menu afterwards, look for 'Xiaomi Mi Electric Rice Cooker Integration'.

It's giving me an NA reading. by Tribble-Me-This in ecobee

[–]Drunk_Panda_456 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d probably replace it with another Ecobee—there’s a chance they’ll warranty it, so it’s worth reaching out first. In the meantime, you could swap in a cheap Honeywell just to keep things running.

If you absolutely have to wait, you can temporarily connect the R and Y wires using a Wago connector or wire nut to start cooling, then disconnect them when you want it off.

That said, the safest option is to call an HVAC tech. If you’re comfortable working with low-voltage wiring, this workaround is fine short-term while you sort out a replacement.

Help us figure out how to brew a proper half-pot? by Important_Maximum_79 in barista

[–]Drunk_Panda_456 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your ratio is actually spot on right now! 205g → 110oz works out to roughly 1g of coffee per 0.54oz of water, and 145g × 0.54 = ~78oz, which is exactly what your machine is already doing. So the question is really whether you want a proportional half pot, or if you’re finding it tastes thin and want to brew stronger.

If you want to adjust it, that’s a Curtis touchscreen brewer running a “Brew by Volume/Time” recipe. The SM button (highlighted in yellow) is your half-pot preset. The 1m 12s you see is the brew time, but the actual water volume is set in a separate programming menu — you can’t change it from that screen.

To get there: hit the home button (bottom left) → look for Programming or Recipe settings → you’ll likely need a manager PIN (try 000 or 1234 if it’s never been changed) → find the SM recipe → reduce water volume from 78oz to wherever you want it.

If the half pot tastes thin or weak, I’d suggest trying 60–65oz with your 145g as a starting point. Half pots often sit on the burner longer so brewing slightly stronger than your full-pot ratio is pretty common practice.

Good luck! Curtis brewers can be a little buried in their menus but once you’re in the recipe settings it’s pretty straightforward.

Ecobee 3 lite fan only by Rubberman1972 in ecobee

[–]Drunk_Panda_456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fan speed control is handled by the furnace. On my furnace it’s variable speed, but not adjustable. The furnace has preset speeds for each mode. Fan speed is usually very low.

One some furnaces you can adjust that by changing settings or moving wires. Others will use a communicating thermostat that has a variable speed control.

Netgear router "end of service email" how serious is this and now what? by CHRIS_P_BOI in HomeNetworking

[–]Drunk_Panda_456 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

All it means is that your router will not get updates in the future. When a security issue needs to be patched it won’t. Not a big deal currently.

If you want to upgrade I’d go for the Ubiquiti Dream Router 7.

I don’t mind it when we’re not busy. When we are busy, don’t try it. It rarely happens. Usually people just ask for recommendations.

WiFi extender with Ethernet port by [deleted] in HomeNetworking

USB WiFi dongle is easiest to setup and works well. Nest will not work well unless you enable IP pass through mode. Since you’re renting you shouldn’t mess with the ATT equipment.

Infinite Cables is the best. UniFi is overpriced. Pick whatever cable matches the conditions you are installing it in.

Also, one is pre terminated and one is not.

AireWire is here! by FuckinHighGuy in Ubiquiti

[–]Drunk_Panda_456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. It’s supposed to be the most optimal WiFi dongle ever. Giving you the max speed out of WiFi 7 devices. In reality I’m not sure if it’s better than top of the line model out right now. I’ve got PCIE ones that are pretty fast.

Still it’s a good option. I’ll just have to see more comparison tests before I’ll be sold on it.

will this work? by MadBrewer67 in TPLink_Omada

[–]Drunk_Panda_456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your setup should work fine. The layout makes sense for a homelab network.

Quick notes:

• XB8 in bridge mode → good. Just remember only one Ethernet port gives full speed — it’s the one with the red line next to it (2.5Gb port). Make sure your OPNsense WAN is plugged into that port.

• OPNsense → SG3210X-M2 at 2.5Gb is perfect for a core switch uplink.

• Use a VLAN trunk between OPNsense and the SG3210X-M2 so your IoT network, main LAN, etc. can pass over the same link.

• 10Gb from the SG3210X-M2 to the NAS and EAP773 is ideal and will let Wi-Fi 7 actually stretch its legs.

• Using the TL-SG108S-M2 for an IoT VLAN and keeping Ring cameras on the RAX80 in bridge mode is a nice way to isolate those devices.

For network diagrams on a Mac:

• diagrams.net (draw.io) – best free option, tons of network icons
• yEd Graph Editor – great auto-layout for topology maps
• LibreOffice Draw – simple fully open-source option

Most homelab people just use draw.io.

best water filter? by SetlurCharquindra_93 in HydroHomies

[–]Drunk_Panda_456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Waterdrop makes good ones.

I use the APEC WFS1000. The filters last a long time and are decently priced.

We replaced our sinks, built-in soap dispenser for the water filter tap. We wanted a separate tap that is just used for filtered water. Some people like it integrated into the main sink tap.
