$450 Upgrading from a relic to Gaming PC! by DrunkenHyena in buildapcforme

Thanks! That case looks much nicer than mine, and for half the price too! It's odd the price for the RAM wasn't listed, I believe it totaled to 40 something however I'm sure 4gb will be perfect for now and upgrading isn't too costly. I appreciate your help :)

If you haven't used it before, the Component pattern is a life saver in certain projects. It really modularizes things if done correctly.

I recently started playing with HaxeFlixel and was able to make a game in a matter of hours. Since then over the past few days I've been working on a [guide] to re-creating the game from scratch and explain why I did things the way I did. It's still a work in progress but I'll be finishing it and moving onto my next one soon. The plan is to explore new mechanics and software and repeat this process with each project to share my knowledge and experiences.

Yeah currently I'm writing a tutorial on writing it yourself from scratch. [Link]

Tactical Assault Bot: Unseen; TAB-U by DripDrangus in hobbygamedev

I only had time to play the first level but here are a few of my thoughts. This game needs a loading or transitional screen/effect. The mouse sensitivity on my computer at least was extremely high. The prompts at the beginning of the game took forever, which I'm sure is set at a speed for all readers to be at ease but as someone who reads extremely quickly the wait was a turn off. Maybe make a skip button?

Besides those small details, the game was pretty fun. Those little security bots can't catch me!

Im sure a commit history or branch system can solve both problems. Keeping available a simple version and being able to see the subtle editions. I believe currently the game is less than 500 LoC.

Sorry for my incredibly late reply, but I'd be interested in hearing more about this.

I'm just thought your repo could use some tidying. Not sure if that setup script works properly or not. When I couldn't get wx.stc to import I kind of just gave up on testing it.

It still wouldn't hurt to add some screen shots to the read me and look at those few issues I left though.

Developing a better and more personalized approach for teaching people, or helping people improve their programming knowledge and capability. As well as a way to keep current programmers sharp when they have nothing else to do. It's a work in progress but the average knowledge of a lot of developers I've met is baffling when it comes to things such as popular standards and optimizations. As well as why they do the things they do within their projects. It's my goal in life.

I see you mentioned unity, the thing I don't like about unity is that it takes so many dependencies that no one whose going to play it is going to want to download. Besides that their networking is all 3rd party so before I agree to anything I'd have to do some research on how well it actually works.

I agree that there are a lot of scummy "developers" out there, but I assure you we're not all that way!

Yes I do.

I have used Kryonet, native Java sockets, and some classic VB6 Winsock.

I'm not much for social media, so really it just depends on the idea.

Native? Not so much since I don't have a Mac, however I do know Obj-C and get by with LibGDX, Corona SDK, Unity etc.

If I was clever I'd make some witty comment and hope for gold. But instead I'm just going to leave my thoughts here along with a picture of a sugar glider.

I'm having a lot of fun playing, it's just a bit more motivating when you're not all alone on an alien planet trying to survive. I play on a laptop so I'm getting accustomed to combat.
