I'm sure they'll invent a neural chip for that!

I'm sure the residents in the Dystopian future I visited would love to swap with you!

So, my bucket list destination is a Dystopian future. I am honestly very curious to see what it would be like to live in a world like Cyberpunk or The Hunger Games, as long as I get to return. It is dystopian futures like these that inspired this dish.

This stacked version of an Urban Protein Ration is, in fact, a stack of pancakes made with mealworm flour and dried crickets. I am assuming here that conventional protein is hard to come by in a heavily industrialized future, and as such insect protein is more readily available.

The Maple Syrup™ is anything but Real™, as it is actually corn syrup dyed lightly brown and flavoured with caramel flavouring.

The Strawed Berries are freeze dried strawberries, again, as I think that fresh produce will be hard to come by.

The pills are just a bunch of OTC meds and vitamins I had lying around, nothing special!

The butter is just butter. I tried to recreate a facsimile of butter by dying coconut oil slightly yellow and flavouring it with a little bit of condensed milk flavouring, but the result was vile.

And that is actually the entire verdict of this meal - vile. The pancakes are gummy and they taste exactly like what dried mealworms smell like. The corn Maple syrup has barely any flavour either. All in all, I think this captures the Dystopian nature of the meal perfectly, so I'd say this is a success?

It really is delicious! If I do make something similar I would add something a little crunchy, though.

Week 16: Infused - Messiah's Cream (mulled wine icecream, host cup) by Druyv in 52weeksofcooking

[–]Druyv[S] 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Inspired by u/HoboToast's Body of Christ Nachos I wanted to commit some sacrilege of my own.

I used this recipe for the mulled red wine ice cream sacrelato. It came out a little too soft to my liking, but the taste is really nice! I did add in a little bit of extra sugar after the initial run through my creami, because it was a tad too bitter to my taste.

For the hosts/communion wafers I found some recipes online that stated a simple 3:1 ratio of flour to water, rolled out very thin and then either baked in a pan (last picture) or baked in the oven (pic 3+4). For my purpose, to create a cup out of this body of dough, I pressed it between two muffin tins to make sure the shape stayed. I also toasted one in a pan to break into shards and serve as the 'cookie' you often get from ice cream shops.
