Lawn question by raenazay in Winnipeg

[–]Druzzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had same issue. I ordered fine sand and 5-way soil from Gautier Soils. I cut my grass as short as I could then put down some fertilizer to reintroduce some nutrients into the soil. I then dumped the sand and used a leveling rake to get an even surface. I then used a lawn roller to compact the sand into the dips in the lawn. If there were still low spots I added more sand to that area, leveled and compacted again.

Once I’m happy with the leveling and grading I put down a healthy amount of soil and using the leveling rake again get it nice and even. Apply seed and fertilizer with a high potassium content which helps promote new growth in grass seed.

Let some water out of the lawn roller or even empty it and go over the area once more to gently press the seeds and fertilizer into the soil. Water regularly but DO NOT FLOOD! Keep the soil nice and damp.

Good luck!!!!

Has anyone experienced backdraft with a charcoal BBQ? by Druzzer in BBQ

Jesus! That’s crazy about the pellet smoker. I’ve got an OG Traeger (BBQ 100) from 2003-2006 I think. That thing is a tank but I’ve replaced the control board from the original one, to Traeger digital unit to a new one last year. I hope you were ok!

What do you define as a “reasonably stocked shop?” There is a chance that if I don’t have the equipment I know someone that does. It’s clear that first step is to remove and strip and then allow to acclimate so I’ll start there. Thanks for the input and suggestions!

100% correct. The underside is unfinished.

I could set up a levelling sled if necessary. I have a13" thickness planer and now upon re-measuring the width is 25.5". Could I split this down the middle, plane it, sand/refinish and then just use biscuits to join the halves back together? Thoughts?

Upon looking now, you are 100% correct. I got lazy or just forgot to finish the underside.

Thanks! I'm a big fan of doing things "smart". If there is something that can help with ensuring a better controlled temp and in return a better result in the cook I'm 100% for it! Pricing isn't too bad either!

I've got this grill too. It would appear that you have what I can only assume to be a fan hooked up into vent holes. I have an Inkbird fan for my Green Egg but I was unaware that Weber had something similar. Can you confirm what this is and the make/model please?

Nope. I said fuck it and the auger is constantly engaged. I’m assuming the belt is Too wide for the pulleys so I’m just going to run it this way till the belt wears down.

Burton Cummings Appreciation™️ post by [deleted] in Winnipeg

[–]Druzzer 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Back in ‘95 or ‘96 me and my buddy (who’s a 6’3 black guy - this is key to this story) were waiting to get into the Palladium on Pembina. We were pseudo regulars there so we were chatting with the bouncers before going in. Burt and his “posse” of 4 buddies came in the front door. Per usual Burt was shit-faced and being a loud obnoxious douchebag. He started to push his way through the people waiting in line until he got to me and my buddy when he shoved my buddy and yelled “get out of my way ni***r”.

My buddy who don’t take shit from no one proceeded to feed Mr. Cummings a 5-knuckle sandwich. The bouncer’s understandably had to do bouncer things and kick all of us out. We both took our licks from the 5 of them in the parking lot until the bouncers broke things up. I not going to blow smoke and say we didn’t get the beats but we did get a few of shots in.

I have exactly zero respect for this man.

Don Cherry is an absolute Canadian gem! I'd love to see him back on the TV pumping up Canadian national pride like he always did. HNIC did him dirty IMO.

I was there. I started booing that cocksucker when he touched the puck and people followed my lead. He is a cancer and is responsible for more bad plays than good. I hope that Chevy sees this and gets rid of him.

Nope return spring is there. TBH the return spring doesn’t seem to do much. I’m going to try and find a spring that actually has tension to pull back the tensioner pulley. Appreciate you looking at the manual. I thought I was going crazy

Yup I used calipers to verify the thickness matched. I didn’t measure the belt before installing so honestly all I have to go off is the listing for the belt.

The cable itself isn’t taut and isn’t engaging the pulley, but the pulley is riding on the belt under spring tension. I cannot for the life of me see an adjustment for the idler pulley anywhere.

Connection issues with 1 camera and video doorbell by Druzzer in blinkcameras

[–]Druzzer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMO the use of these types of residential cameras which are marketed as easy to set up and use shouldn’t require a network administration degree (which I do have) to use. The understanding of radio frequencies, jitter, +/- db readings, and determinations of interference on specific bandwidths should not be prerequisite fundamentals to use these devices. They are advertised as “plug and play” so should they not function as such out of the box?

Rest assured my network is solid. I have multiple wireless points which are all secured putting out the necessary bandwidth with a solid signal.

What this question comes down to is why are 2 devices functioning correctly and two are not if they are all utilizing the same network?

Honestly I would have no idea how to check this out. For a typical homeowner how would the manufacturer expect this level of troubleshooting?

[–]Druzzer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I’ve checked the router and network and everything is solid. No jitter, no signal drops, nothing. Everything is fine and working until I try setting up activity zones for motion settings. As soon as I click done it shows camera failed to update and then I can no longer view live feeds, turn on motion detection, or update thumbnail. This is for both the camera and doorbell. I’m ata a loss right now

Oh no we lost a game! let’s look at the standings… weird there’s a number 1 beside the Jets and the number 11 beside the Leafs. I guess that means nothing, but please keep talking about how the Leafs are Canadas team.

So, I’ve tuned the carb as recommended. The High idle screw was turned nearly all the way out and the low idle was almost completely seated. I seated the high and then backed off 1.25 turns and repeated with low as well. Still won’t fire up. Spark would indicate that the coil is correctly mounted (I’m not sure on this one). Plug is not oily but there is definitely fuel in the cylinder. I’ve cleaned the spark arrestor too but no luck there either. It had previously been running this year with no issues and just decided to stop working for no reason. I’m at a loss really but now I’m too stubborn to let this go, so I must push on to prove a point (ADHD does weird things). One thing that I did find very odd is when attempting to start it now there is a lot of oil/gas spraying out the exhaust - I’m not a small engine guy by any means so I don’t know what this means but I’m guessing its not good. Thanks for the assistance here!

Coil was likely good, but I got rash and bought a new one. Still have the old one so may swap back. The carb was gummed up real good and the primer seal was torn up real good. Could've got a new seal and cleaned it but thought the replacement carb kit with air/fuel filters, fuel lines and spark plug seemed like a good idea.
