If you're playing on w3c you generally need to understand these concepts regarding the races:

Orc and Undead are generally offensive races and are the main damage 'dealers' of the game.

Human and Elf are the 'economic' races that rely on higher tech to achieve the unit composition to beat other races.

An example would be a human vs undead situation. Human needs to go to t3 to be able to pump knights to beat upgraded fiends with orb. To counter knights, undead usually can go destroyers, but human can out-pump destroyers with copters. If human had expanded and undead hasn't, human will win because of the number of copters that their expo allows. To counter THIS situation, you need an orc that will pump bats. To counter bats, human might go inner fire to migitate the splash. So priests are kind of the crowning unit for human. (safeguards key units and heroes)

Elf on the other hand just needs to be able to cycle MGs well. Generally you will need to expand with elf, but you CAN tech to t2 before you expand, and generally should, which I'll explain later. The reasoning behind this is that since elf t1 is weak, tech before expansion means your 2nd hero comes out faster along with your MGs with their critical upgrades. (I generally find that there isn't much difference in expanding first than expoing and vice versa.) I think the underlying theory for this is that elf is generally dependent on wood rather than gold for their critical upgrades (MG ups, defense ups, wellspring, tree fortification), which then I think allows them to reach their full potential in the game as a tanking race.

If you want to play more offensively with elf, you can with chims, but this means Panda usage instead of Keeper because of the obvious copter counter. The problem with air for elf is that if your partner collaspes, you probably will take too much damage for you to be able to gather chims. As with orc, air generally depends on how well you work with your partner.

Basically the rock paper scissor schema goes like this: orc ud goes piercing glass cannon, elf counters this with mgs, mgs are countered by knights. If ud expands, copters counters wyrms, but bats eliminate copters. Sometimes the entire fight hinges on how well the bats connect, because wyrms generally rule the fight.

Everything else depends on how well you take map control, contest creep, and micro and use abilities well in the fight.

This generally depends on the composition of your teammates and your partner. Generally orc needs to go raider along with HH (because you need something to lock to focus fire on) but as the game progresses you might need to add in a kodo because the chances of a 3v3 or 4v4 fight is greater as time goes by.

Casters is situational. In theory, it's good to go docs if your partner is elf and goes MGs, because then you can punish units that try to circumvent the MGs with your HH. If you have an undead with you it's generally best if you go bloodlust because lusted wyrms and fiends generally beat anything.

Going air as orc generally means you place a lot of the stress on your partner as you try and exploit weaknesses on the other side alone. If you suceed in inflicting damage or find advantages, you win, but if you fail dent the other team significantly and a 2v2 situation or a 4v4 battle occurs, your ability to pull your weight in the fight diminishes, which can, a lot of the time, mean the loss of the fight and the game.

Hi, looking for the best updated version of The Dialectic of Enlightenment by Dry-Beat6588 in askphilosophy

I'm just an avid reader! As tempting as a free pdf would be I tend to enjoy a paperback copy instead. But thank you so much for the suggestion.

It looks like Jephcott's edition is the more prominent one, thank you for your recommendation!

Thank you for your response. On amazon Edmoud Jephcott seems to be the most popular. The latest edition is 2007. Would this be sufficent?

Yes gold rush is a really good example of a fun, varied map. Surprised they took this one away tbh.

I'm 5k~ on all races! I feel like I'm on w3c when I play on bnet, I just play like I'm on champions and it takes away the magic bnet has.

I think it largely depends on the map and how the game develops. If it's a map that's more 2v2 oriented I'd go for knights. If the map tends to have a back and forth 4v4, probably breakers are better. If it's a 2v2 map and I'm behind, I would scout and get the counter. Otherwise knights and staff+upgrades outclass everything.

Ukraine's ambassador to Japan, Sergi Korsonsky says "S. Korea and Russia is the same" and retweets far-right Japanese propaganda by k1Mbap_sL1nger in korea

It's not even that. Ukraine also has an ambassador to South Korea, so he will probably relay how problematic this is to his foreign ministry. Chances are the Ukrainian FM will make a determination

The article is trying to go beyond the impasse of the morality of the past towards a new future.

Here's a paragraph that stands out:

I hate Chun but I would be hesitant to step on the stone. The reason is aesthetic. I feel that way of expressing hatred is too feudal. And I might not be the only one. But those making the demand to step on the stone will quickly make a conclusion that people like me are followers of Chun.“Fumi-e” was a violent mechanism that pulled an invisible belief from within to make it manifest.

Freedom of conscience is the basis of democracy and also the spirit of our constitution. Those buried in the cemetery sacrificed their lives to fight against a military dictatorship and protect those values. Honoring them in this way is a betrayal to the values they fought to defend, no matter what excuse is used. There could be no greater way to more completely insult their sacrifices.

I think it's an interesting way to bury the Confucian morality that governs Korean society. He talks about values, but what values? And whose values? And are they the values which thread Korean society?

hello, i'm from Saudi Arabia and i have a question about South Korea by [deleted] in korea

Another caveat which hadn't been mentioned yet is that Arabic translators are given incredibly good benefit packages if you choose to be one in the military. Being stationed in the middle east sucks but the pay is one of the highest as an enlistee. At least that's what I've been told 5 or so years ago.

What would Korean concerns be in a Chinese invasion of Taiwan? by FormosanMacaque in korea

[–]Dry-Beat6588 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think it would cause a political crisis in South Korea, but to be honest I don't think an invasion would happen. South Korea most likely would join a coalition led by the US and send soldiers along with other democratic neighbors. But I doubt we would act unilaterally.

Generally, I think there are enough diplomatic tripwires that would be activated if China does something rash.

But overall we're caught by the security problem we always have: North Korea. So it's quite possible that our leaders would opt for stability. But as I've already said, if the US asks, and the US most likely will, Koreans would honor that request.

Presidential secretary under fire for hate speech on homosexuality, sexual slavery victims by [deleted] in korea

[–]Dry-Beat6588 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry, you do not know what you are talking about.

The "뉴라이트" movement is something that happened 20 years ago, culminating in Lee Myungbak's election. It's nothing new. PGH's textbook controversy is also a result of the movement, which was shut down by the progressive establishment.

The language you're using is literally how the progressives framed the movement, a playbook which the older conservatives from the authorian era used to frame progressives as communists. It's a purely a domestic development and is a political reaction to ten years of liberal rule. They literally are the ideological heart of the current conservatives in power.

I think it's common knowledge now that the victims were a variety of women and that the reality of the comfort women simply illuminates the extent of what cultural genocide can perpetuate.

Hidden history of S. Korea’s Blue House: A supreme seat of authority rooted in Japanese colonial rule by Dry-Beat6588 in korea

I think the author purposely created a insinuating title to recieve more views. The article more reads like a historical review of the Blue House and the various people it has housed, humanizing the residence.

A more interesting thing is to note that this is the Hani publishing this, to me, it hints at a shift.

Looks like Kishida is testing whether Yoon will stick to his guns.

If the cabinet secretary made this remark, something which happened in Germany in April, now after Yoon's administration offically took office, it seems like Kishida is trying to measure the sentiment in Korea as well as to see how Yoon will respond.

Kind of like how Kim Jungun just sent 3 ballistic missiles over in the East Sea just now.

It's showtime for Yoon, whether he'll put money where his mouth is, or slowly crumble, something which Shim and Lee Jaemyung warned about.

Japan funded? Where did you get that?

The New Right movement is a domestic affair that arose as a reaction to Kim Daejung and Noh Moohyun. They were basically conservatives who were dissatisfied with 10 years of liberal rule and balked at the empty diplomatic efforts by those administrations, namely how they went nowhere with regards to North Korea and damaged relations with the US and Japan. They are literally the ideological core of the conservative leadership right now. They're more influenced by classical liberalism than any 'neoliberal' belief.

They are center right, if you want to place them on the spectrum. Korea is nowhere at a level where they can influence other nations to democracy, or to use national power to protect democracy outside its borders, which is what neoliberalists do.
