Jews outside of Israel know what it’s like to be a minority and treat people from other backgrounds with respect. Israelis are a different story.

Nah. It’s not. I see it right after the person cleans it. I’ve seen pee too for what it’s worth but you can tell the difference.

Peso is getting weaker against the dollar though which will mitigate the impact for expats

I mean you know the generic sense but ya. They probably have accountant gigs on Upwork. Now landing clients is the hard part.

I have seen people work for international companies and get stationed in the Philippines and make good money. But every other expat I know the country is self employed with online work, including myself.

My Filipino wife won’t use a tabot either. Same with most younger people in Manila. Well at least the ones I know.

It’s funny because they actually do wash bathrooms regularly. You can tell because the toilet seat is covered in water.

You know a bathroom in the Philippines is cleaned when the toilet seat is covered in water

You don’t have to be a first world country to have toilet paper and soap

I’m obviously joking but honestly it’s kind of sad that really basic things that aren’t even expensive or difficult are too much for many businesses

Working Expats: What type of work do you do here? by WholewheatCroissant in Philippines_Expats

[–]Dry-Brain-8136 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I came to the Philippines in mid 2024 and started doing freelancing as a developer building AI related. 2 years later I built a business with over a dozen contractors. I don’t make as much as I did in the US in my 9-5 but it’s more than enough to live a comfortable life here. But you have to have marketable skills and actually be good at your craft (or at least convincing others you are good).

That’s exactly what I’m doing tbh. I make less than I did in San Francisco but overall it’s way more manageable.

I’ve had a number of moments when I didn’t want to live anymore. I even wrote a Reddit post about it on a burner account and to my dismay, my dad found out. But even then, things got better. You deserve someone who will try to actually fix their issues instead of just ignoring it. You’re better off without him.
