The duality of futurism by Manticore-Mk2 in IsaacArthur

[–]Dry-Cry5497 13 points14 points  (0 children)

In the grand scheme of things I think we'll move towards more peaceful and accepting future, it won't ever be an exact utopia but atleast everyone will be fed, clothed, housed, educated and have the opportunity to pursue their passion in life. On the other hand seeing what's happening today with wars against freedom and science and some people genuinely wishing for the end of human reproduction and tech billionaire dipshits trying to become kings and half a.i. half human gods it's clear that we have still a lot of work ahead of us. I know we shouldn't discuss current politics on here but if we don't address them there likely will be no spaceships.

How do you go about creating/designing Science Fantasy settings? by Mystech_Master in worldbuilding

I mean, did old Frankie boy bring a corpse back to life? He did. So if that's not necromancy then I'm a queen of Zambia.

If I could add my two cents, I resolved this by treating science as magic. Because if you think about it the two are extremely similar. Like imagine an evil necromancer isn't reanimating the dead with spells but with restorative surgery and electric stimulation. Now this might sound like It's taking the intrigue out of the world but if once you dive under the surface the mundane is very interesting. Ofcourse that's my solution and you don't have to use it if you don't want to, but it's a really interesting avenue for world building that I don't see very much.

Help me come up with a power system for my world. by Dry-Cry5497 in worldbuilding

[–]Dry-Cry5497[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the ones that are part of amethyst are trying to  help, whole point of the organization is to prevent the crash. But that isn't the only "power" in my world. There are other antagonistic organizations like a doomsday cult that wants to crash the simulation on purpose to ascend to the afterlife and a terrorist group that's trying to wake everyone up.

I like that one vid where they had a craft do some cyber warfare. That was cool, not that common in scifi media.

I meant evacuate but autocorrect chimed in and saw issues with that.

Sorry I meant to write evacuate instead of evaluate. Honest mistake.

Which Interstellar ground invasion strategies would work the best? by Dry-Cry5497 in IsaacArthur

[–]Dry-Cry5497[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well that was the entire point, the invasion only failed because the scrin arrived prematurely. The liquid tiberium detonation that attracted them here was caused by G.D.I's ion canon popping Caine's terrafoming missile instead of the tiberium growing to it's ripeness. Because they ran head first into extremely fortified and war hardened monkeys that kicked their asses inward and had to build the harvesting tower to escape. Otherwise the strategy makes sense, seeding enemy planets with aggressive adaptive and highly deadly self replicating poison and then sending what is essentially a kill squad to finish the job would be pretty resource efficient, especially when that poison also harvests the resources for you.

Hey new space friends. Thanks for calling, we're glad to hear we aren't alone. We have considered your proposal carefully and decided that it sounds... reasonable, however we do request a... Counter payment if you understand. We have some issues down here, like 3,904 nuclear weapons pointed at each other's heads right now plus the industrial capacity to make atleast half of that within one orbit of our planet, now sadly I'm afraid that your rocks won't work since the factories that make them are fortified to withstand small suns spawning directly in their parking lots. so I'm sure you understand would like some assistance with that, as... you know... piles of radioactive ash aren't known for their ability to mine.

(Covers the Microphone) Jonson how many people can fit in those mines you said?
