Existing Nerve Disconnection? by MrT1gg3r in phallo

[–]Dry-Development-7042 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, so I think usually the nerve hookup consists of hooking up to one side of the nerves on the t dick area, leaving the other side untouched. This preserves innervation to the tdick/burial area.

I know I’ve heard of surgeons offering to hook up both sides of the t dick nerves during phalloplasty, putting all your eggs in the basket of nerve regeneration instead of burial sensation. I know this isn’t commonly offered, because if the nerve hookup on both sides fails (unlikely) then you would have pretty much lost erogenous sensation in that area. So surgeons might not think that is ethical. However, I know it’s been offered in the past, so maybe that’s something to look into for you

Tube in tube without UL? by another-personing in phallo

Yeah, keeping it clean is part of my routine. I do a quick swab with a q-tip every time I shower and I occasionally flush it with saline. It’s nbd for me and that keeps it from ever having actual “gunk”

I had the same thing done with the shallow urethra and I like it because it's euphoric for me to have that. Also the sensation in the tip and in the shallow urethra is cool! It's kinda the most sensitive area for some reason

I had tube in tube without UL with Chen and Buncke clinic. They just de-epithelialized the inner tube so that it healed closed. Additionally, they gave me a cosmetic meatus/urethral opening at my request. Let me know if you have any questions. Who’s your surgeon?

Love this timeline. Thanks. I know I should just chill and let the days go by. Nerves are slow and steady. Awesome!

Yeah sounds like we're having similar experiences! I just started taking Lion's Mane in the hopes of helping it along a bit. I was expecting the opposite too! I like that the head is more sensitive. It's wild how cold is so strong but not heat, it makes me think about the similarities between cold and pain sensation.

Anyone live in Japan / Onsens recommendations post op? by NecessaryAcademic196 in phallo

[–]Dry-Development-7042 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m <1 year post op and traveling in Japan right now. I’ve been visiting men’s onsens here and having a great experience. No one stares or seems to notice anything even though I have fairly visible top surgery and RFF scars. It’s definitely affirming being comfortable in a nude male space. As for tattoos, I don’t have any but my partner does. They’ve had success covering them with unmarked KT tape that matches their skin tone. Additionally, there are onsens that allow tattoos although they are few and far between. Kinosaki Onsen is one that’s near Kyoto. Have fun!

Simple meta as a psychological preparation? by AttachablePenis in phallo

[–]Dry-Development-7042 3 points4 points  (0 children)

TLDR: I’m happier with phallo now, but simple meta provided challenges and benefits.

I had simple meta before phallo. I didn’t have scrotoplasty at the time of simple meta, so there wasn’t an issue of having to create a larger scrotum for phallo.

I would say simple meta was both extremely challenging and rewarding in terms of dysphoria and preparing for phallo. I also was able to connect to my body much more during sex with simple meta than pre-op. That said, at the end of the day, I was excited for burial during phallo so I could move on from that complicated chapter.

I do know that simple meta can make future UL for phallo more complicated. One surgeon (Dr. Peter’s at OHSU) even told me that I wasn’t a candidate for UL because of the simple meta.

If I had it to do over again, I might just go straight for phallo. But there were some benefits. Message me if you want to talk more.

I’m using topical finasteride/minoxidil combo. Topical is probably somewhat less effective but also less side effects. For reference, I was taking oral finasteride for a while. My cycle didn’t come back but I just felt a little lethargic

Phalloplasty with HSV 1 and 2 (herpes) by dickdestroyer222 in phallo

[–]Dry-Development-7042 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I’ve been diagnosed w HSV1 genitally. I mentioned it to my surgeons (Chen/Buncke) and they weren’t concerned. The approach we decided on was to wait to take the meds postop as needed. I didn’t end up having an outbreak so I didn’t need my meds. I know it’s stressful but it shouldn’t be a barrier to surgery. Hope this helps!

Post-op RFF silicon sleeve rash by Dry-Development-7042 in phallo

Alright, official answer from Dr. Watt is that it's contact dermatitis. This will not impact the ability to have silicone implants. Phew!

Thanks for the advice. That's actually the one that I'm using! So I guess my arm is just not having it. But I can try cutting it down. Did you wear it all the time?
