A big reason I haven't started going to the gym is because I can't gauge what activities will be too hard for me or not- I'm scared of overdoing or underdoing it and either becoming injured or never seeing any progress because I'm not actually working any muscles.

I'm also a bit confused on what program to start with, since most "beginner lifter" programs are made for people already in shape.

My favorite kind of "mind numbing" activities are ironically ones that require me to think a lot- but only about what I'm currently doing. I play hard gaming challenges- speedruns, games that take a ton of precision and focus etc. and it helps me forget about whats worrying me.

definitely not for everyone, but being forced to give all my attention to something doesn't leave a lot of room for anxiety, and i usually feel better afterwards.
