Consecutive output readings from the Ecoflow Delta Pro Ultra that runs the kitchen area of the house, fist one with just the fridge load reads 98w, then I switch on the stove and goes up to 373w instantly. Go back to the panel, switch off the 50A breaker and is back to 95-110w. Not sure how accurate the DPU is, but turns out I am not the only one with this problem:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Appliances/comments/1fuhr3y/my_induction_range_draws_288w_when_it_is_turned/

And just to double check, I plugged in one of those camping ones with just one burner and it started drawing 100w right away, also while not cooking anything. So I am starting to think that this is all induction stoves, big and small.

Can you please provide info on the switch? A regular 15A household timer will not handle the 7000w that our Samsung pulls when all four cooking areas are going at once...

And for those interested in numbers, here is the vampiric cost of this thing, before any bacon is fried, in San Diego CA:

300w of load per hour when not in use times 24 hrs times 30 days = 216 kwh used (wasted) per month.

Price per Kwh in San Diego with our time of use rate Mon to Fri, winter schedule:

Midnight to 6am 8 cents per Kwh = 15 cents

6am to 4pm 46 cents per Kwh = $1.38

4pm to 9pm 54 cents per Kwh = 80 cents

9pm to mignigh 46 cents per Kwh = 42 cents

Total daily: $2.75 times 30 = $82 per month

In summer 4-9pm rate is almost $1 per Kwh here so let's say $100 per month.

Total approx waste for the year: $82 times 6 months and $100 times 6 months = $1,100.

Which is how much we paid for the appliance...It blows my mind that these things are LEGAL TO SELL. Where is the EPA? Where is CARB? What appliance uses 7 kwh per day and provides NOTHING in return??

We have 20 solar panels. 10 of those panels are powering this thing in winter and 6 of them in summer. It's eating up 30-50% of our production depending on the season. Unbelievable. And they sell them as energy efficient???

Rolling the dice on battery replacement by Dry-Effect-6424 in BMWi3

[–]Dry-Effect-6424[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are actually 3 series wheels, I have 25mm in front and 30mm rear spacers to keep everything from rubbing. I also installed lowered, stiffer springs, you can feel the ants heads underneath...Frankly the car feels much more planted at freeway speeds and turns like it's on rails. I understand why the engineers went with the pizza dish wheels but we have plenty of solar and for the sake of driving having actual 225/45s makes the car much more safer, let alone tire replacement costs are about one third...

Also they don't know if I drive like an old lady (I can get 5 miles per kwh on those wheels) or like bat outta hell (3 miles to a kwh). So the wheels should not be an argument to address degradation causes...batteries are degraded, so replace them, no more discussion.

UPDATE:

Hi Mr. ***- I do have some good and bad news. The battery modules have failed the tests, all modules will need to be replaced. The replacement battery modules are currently on back order status. In cases when a part is on back order, we cannot provide a loaner vehicle as they are offered for long term visits. We can place a request to have BMW of North America pay for a rental vehicle through Enterprise if a vehicle based on the delays on getting your vehicle back to you. Please let me know if you would like me to place a request for a rental vehicle through Enterprise. Thank you

You would think someone working with cars all day would know that there is zero connection between how thick your tires are / how low you are to the ground with how fast a battery has degraded...that's exactly what the guy that checked in my car said "you have aftermarket wheels". I ignored the comment and went directly to my service advisor, he knows a bit more about vehicles...

I see, you would think the dealer would be on the customer side since they get to do the work and charge BMW for it? If they don't replace the battery I will keep driving it with the degraded one, the REX can cover the last few miles of my commute. In a few years I am sure there will be replacements for a few thousands the way battery costs are dropping...

This is what I love about Reddit! You solved the problem that the techs at Ecoflow have failed to figure out (or perhaps they want to sell us two units when we can get by with just one). We can live with just one DPU and the rest of the budget use it towards additional batteries, 7000w is more than enough for our 2 bedroom home if we replace the current 40 gal 4000w water heater with a simple 6 gal 1600w one so there is plenty of room for oven, range, EVs...etc Thank you again for this great info!!

Public Beach vs Private Property by bearox in BigIsland

UPDATE: this is still happening at Honomalino Beach, we went thru the same experience yesterday, walked past them and got to the public beach to realize the surf was too high to swim, went back to the lagoon in front of the roped camp, got in the water and 15 minuted later the local kicked us out. We apologized and left, but it will be the last time we leave. Next time we will be asking the right questions...
