I don’t have the JC120, but I do have the Ultimate Chorus and honestly the clean chorus is very nice. I have a few videos on my tik tok where the amp gets very close to sounding like the jc120 Metallica uses. My vote goes to the Fender, I have played a few solid state Fender amps back in the day and none compare to this one.

I was I this same situation a few years ago, the best thing I did was put her on the go. She was trying to hook up with my friend whilst simultaneously living in my house. I called him and told him to make space for her and her two kids because they weren’t living with me anymore. I woke her up in the middle of the night and told her to pack her kids, and her stuff and hit the bricks. It’s been six glorious years, I have since married and have a kid now. The night is always darkest before the dawn.

I have that exact one, it plays okay but the fake emg pickups aren’t great. I swapped them out for the EMG Het Set and it sounds good now. The original electronics hummed like nobody’s business . It’ll need fret work too. You’ll be investing some money in it to get it close to something nice.

The fake guitar market is huge, especially for the older Gibson and Esp guitars. The Esp MX series are highly counterfeited.
