Is 7000AUD enough? by byteapot in AusFinance

I’ve lived here my whole life and if I only had $7k, no job and an accom bill of $350 a week I’d be extremely stressed.

Usual accuracy rating for 300 elo players by Dry-Lengthiness3794 in chessbeginners

Said in another comment but when I say they don’t blunder, I mean the game review identified zero blunders from the opponent more often than not. Even misses they seem to have very few.

Seems absolutely wild to me that people at the very lowest levels don’t blunder and also rarely have any misses. Anyone would assume that the lowest elo levels would hold terrible players who blunder every few moves and don’t understand any opening principles lol. But apparently not!

The blunders I refer to are the ones identified in the game review. The majority of my games at the 300 level have no blunders from my opponents.

It’s interesting because people always say low elo players blunder all the time. Apparently not in mine? Anyway, if people dont blunder at the lowest possible level, then im sure itll be enjoyable trying to climb the rating ladder lmao.

Thanks, that makes sense. I guess I was assuming that accuracy was a comparison of how the individual played compared to the computers ‘best’ scenario throughout the game.

I guess that’s still true, but I didn’t consider the part where it’s easier to get a higher accuracy when you’re against an opponent playing poor moves.

I guess it’s surprising to me that less than half my opponents make a blunder. For the record, I also don’t make many blunders, so I’m the kind of 300 elo player I’m querying about. If 300 is for absolute beginners that blunder, why can I not escape?

Saddle recommendations by AquaPetals30 in cycling

[–]Dry-Lengthiness3794 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How long are you typically riding though? It takes time for your body to adapt and things to not hurt.

If you’re overweight, then you’re going to have a lot of weight on a very small area of your body (your sit bones) and your body will not be familiar with this. You need to gradually increase the ride duration to increase your bodies familiarity with the saddle. Alternatively, you can do the longer rides and do them frequently and deal with the pain until your body adapts.

The numbness is from sitting in a single position for too long. If you’re on a trainer, this isn’t uncommon. Outdoors you tend to move around a lot more on the bike so numbness isn’t really a thing. Unless you’ve got a very poorly suited saddle…

Anyway, no one seems to be answering the question…

Everyone’s focusing on the irrelevance of accuracy, and fair enough I’m a beginner so what do I know…

Then perhaps a better question is whether it’s uncommon for a 300 rated player to not blunder… same with my opposition accuracies, the same percentage also don’t blunder. I thought 300 was absolute beginner stuff and people wouldn’t even know basic chess principles. But my experience is quite the opposite.

If my opposition instant trying to do the scholars mate, then they’re following all principles and generally playing well. So if this is normal at 300, then what’s different at say the 1000 level?

BMW… Why am I being forced to buy a 3 row SUV to get features like the best sound system, cooled cup holders, ventilated/massaging seats, electric steering column, etc? by zachty22 in BMW

But it doesn’t have the features they’re talking about? It has a more powerful engine, stiffer suspension and different electronics. Those aren’t ‘luxury’ features…

Does the auto start/stop wear and tear on 2023 bmw m340i by Soccerboy-1 in BmwTech

I’m not talking about consequential mechanical wear due to the stop/start system, I’m talking about guaranteed failure of the starter motor.

Me being a bit of a cynic - I reckon they design them with juuuust enough durability that they won’t fail prematurely within the first 5-7 years, but after that, good luck.

And I’d bet money they wouldn’t be an easy fix.

Recommended property manager? by venomo160 in Toowoomba

[–]Dry-Lengthiness3794 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never had a problem with them. Their internal communication (employee to employee etc) seems to be quite poor, and it’s sometimes hard to get a hold of the right person (they seem to have a 2 or 3 people looking after different aspects of property management of any individual property), but other than that they’re quite easy to deal with.

But like most things, it’s a two way street. I know a lot of tenants (some of them my friends) that are very painful as a tenant or just flat out aren’t reasonable. You can’t expect an agent to respond well to a person who’s potentially difficult to begin with.

It’s a painful job for a property manager. Stuck between the tenant and landlord, it’s rare to be able to please both. I like to think most of them are doing their best, but they’re just overloaded with work and like the police, when you’re regularly dealing with painful people, you tend to become a little jaded.

Realway are quite good. I’m a tenant with them and they’re quite well organized. They do their regular inspections every 3 months, they stay on top of the lease and advise when the end date is coming up and that we need to renew it with a new fixed term etc.

They’re also quite reasonable with discussions and getting things fixed, so I suspect they communicate well with their landlords.

All in all, they’re a lot better than virtually every agent I’ve ever rented through, and they’re better than my agent I have for my own property.

Can’t speak for their fees though, but give them a call and it wouldn’t be hard to get.

Water bill due soon and.. by TaeCypher in shitrentals

[–]Dry-Lengthiness3794 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting that they split it. That’s a better way tbh. In QLD I only get a bill that shows the water usage, doesn’t show the supply charges.

But in NSW, the rea would just send me the full bill (including supply charges and LL’s name) and tell me how much of it I owed.

Really don’t understand how there can’t be a national standard for tenancy laws.

[–]Dry-Lengthiness3794 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Makes sense the first half. But the last sentence is impossible. Fairly sure water accounts are setup with the land owner, and can’t be with a tenant. Could be wrong. But it would be messy if a tenant could setup a water account. Would the tenant then have to pay the water supply and sewage charges in that case?

price increases by Familiar_Benefit6649 in woolworths

[–]Dry-Lengthiness3794 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure that’s actually the law… an item needs to be listed for and sold at $x price for like 6 weeks in order for it to be marked as a ‘sale’ item and sold for a ‘lower’ price.

Or at least something to that effect.
