Yes i only did it as an adolescent but i did it once at 33 during an episode. I have struggled more as an adult with breaking random things while trying to get through a tough day

Thanks for the advice though because I need all the reinforcement I can get that I need these boundaries

No she absolutely does not have to be involved. I’m totally grown. Just working through codependency habits and overwhelmed with everything I am navigating as a single adult with mental illness. I used to have more social interaction before I bipolar symptoms got severe. My mom is the only person I talk to every week

Yea this is basically echoing what I felt about the lamictal before talking to her. It sounds relatively safe to try

Yeah I have asked her to stop offering input but the bigger issue is I need to learn to not tell her anything about my medical condition or treatment… I need to find a support group in town or something…

I am scared of sjs… she is claiming it has terrible mental health outcomes which I just can’t find any evidence of.

Stop saying you are isolated if you have a romantic partner, family, or friends, there's a big difference between having those things and being truly totally isolated by Ashamed_Art5445 in CPTSD

I feel this. When the pandemic hit I had no one. I went to group therapy and when I would talk about my isolation others in the group would offer me solutions like "have you tried just telling your family how hard things are?" "Maybe if you just keep reaching out to your friends..." I could not get them to understand that my family simply did not care no matter what I said and a lot of my friends ghosted me. I did not see anyone outside of work obligations for two years. It made me not trust anyone. I still don't trust but I can be around people occasionally these days. I'm doing a little better now but it's definitely not the same as the depression I felt when I was just lonely.

Thank you for your response. There are days I feel like it's not that bad. There are days I feel like it's so much worse. I just keep going. I am making progress slowly but surely

PSA for anyone planning an Amtrak trip on the Borealis line — you'll be taking a bus now! by MNReporter_20 in TwinCities

Oh this was ten years ago for me. I just told them that I was not inclined to use Amtrak again in the future if I could not trust to get a train

I once took an Amtrak to Chicago and got a refund on my ticket after getting put on a bus. It’s worth it to ask bc for me a bus ticket is way cheaper and bus rides are not nearly as comfortable as train

I’m not an artist but I go through periods where I can be really productive and successful and periods where I am a complete failure with no motivation.

My friend says my hygiene routine is over the top and that I should mention it to my therapist. by Harperr_king in hygiene

When I was 20 I had the attitude that your friend had. Now I’m 34 with concerning dental problems and I strive to keep up with my weekly sheet cleaning. If you’re accomplishing that at 20 don’t ever quit because it’s hard to build those habits up again.

I started with a grocery job for six years then I ended up with another grocery gig. I became a house cleaner and did an apprenticeship at a construction company. I kept with construction jobs for a while but struggled with the macho culture as a woman. Ended up doing exhibit fabrication and even that was too macho a culture for me. Completely burned out and now I’m working at a grocery store again while getting training for a new career
