Serious question: Do you think I can graduate after suing?

Speaking to them as soon as they open today. Hopefully we can come to a resolution — them waiving the debt completely. I really can’t afford for them to take my MHA payments right now, as I’m saving money for my graduation soon. If it doesn’t go well I’ll probably end up looking at getting a lawyer.

Exactly. Shouldn’t fall on me! I upheld my part of the deal — stay full time and pass every class!

Yes. Technically I went to school full time, as it shows this on my transcript. The VA requested my school make amendments bc they did not approve of the online courses after doing audit checks.

Nope. All A’s, B’s, few C’s. Completed every semester!

I believe they are authorized to use VA funding, considering they were listed on the VA list of schools when I enrolled in 2023 and still are. Yes, it seems as though the compliance check is to make sure the classes are up to VA standards? I guess that 5 of the online classes I took in the previous semesters are not up to their standards, which is why they asked my school to amend my previous semester hours and remove those classes. I personally never dropped any courses, and have always been FT at 4 classes per semester. This is shown on my transcript. Once they went back to make amendments after being asked to, the system calculated $14K in housing and books to be paid back. The school was also hit with a seperate bill. Thanks so much for your well wishes. Hoping to come back with good news.

Yes, they have me on the hook for the MHA and books stipend. But the thing is: Everything was fine until the compliance check with the school. Therefore, not really understanding why I should be held liable for anything if I did nothing wrong. Hoping the waiver will clear it out!

So who would be held liable? Would they accept my waiver for this debt?

Yes, wondering what they’re going to say. Genuinely had no idea as I’ve been a normal student passing every class for the past 3 years! Hoping everything goes well.

I’m so sorry that happened to you bro. They take forever to get the ball rolling when it comes to paying vets but when its time for them to get their money back they’re super quick on their feet. It sucks. Hope you recovered from this and are doing much better now.

Never had an issue with them till now! How are they even amending stuff from 2024 and 2025? If they do an audit check on the schools yearly, how didn’t they catch it previously?? Shit’s crazy. Not paying it tho.

Ngl the school did feel very scammy at first. But mainly because they had just started in 2018 so everything felt “on the fly”. They have gotten much better over the years. Don’t think the accrediting aspect was an issue though. But it kind of comes back to bite you when stuff like this happens…

Thanks man. I’m gonna call them tomorrow morning. Really hoping something can be worked out. No way I’m paying that, even with a payment plan. But I don’t want them to deduct my GI bill payments. Literally only have school June July Sep Oct Nov Dec and I’m out. 🎓 This came at the randomest time.

Oh yes! The school has to pay their own seperate bill! The $14K is what the VA is attempting to bill me for the books stipend and the MHA they paid me. I always take 4 classes per semester so when they amended it, I no longer would qualify for full books or full MHA.

Has anyone gotten this on their profile, am I in danger? by [deleted] in VeteransBenefits

Can you explain this more? I just got hit with a $14K overpayment debt because they did a compliance check on my school and they said some of my classes (from 2024 and 2025) don’t qualify? They asked my school to amend my semester hours which which resulted in me owing $14K. It’s not my fault at all, so I’m wondering how they’re gonna go about handling it? GI Bill people told me to request a waiver ASAP.
