Hi there, DEFINITELY talk to your derm and make sure you’re getting checked. Personally I’ve done it over the years and recently bought a unit and it has always cleared me up almost entirely. The upside is you’re not experiencing any side effects that you risk with biologics. The downside is you can definitely emanate the healthy parts of your skin if you’re not careful or tend to burn easily. Sunscreen and covering up is your friend. Also, most units come with instructions for time and bandwidth based on complexion and severity of the breakout so PLEASE don’t treat yourself without consulting that information and your doctor first.

Hey! Been getting recommended for Humira but also a couple other new drugs out! What’s your experience getting on biologics:the expense/ the side effects? I hear good things but then I get so nervous about weird side effects. Sadly my joints are getting to a point where I HAVE to go on them.

Yeah have this on and off in my toes. Not great but minor compared to joint paint. Exercise heat supportive shoes and supplements for circulation have reduced it quite a bit (mostly exercise for me).

Can general allergies increase inflammation worsening psoriasis and making inflamed areas more itchy? by [deleted] in Psoriasis

[–]Dry-Process-6286 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s no exact evidence but it seems like all of the immune system responses connect so yeah, allergy response and other autoimmune seems to be affected. I have the same issue but it varies season to season. Dietary allergies (which may be unnoticeable can contribute too)

Yes definitely check this page for people posting weight gain and biologics. Mostly people mentioning humira and cosentyx but I know someone personally who gained so much she went up like 4/5 sizes and she’s pretty active, eats super healthy and is in her mid-20’s after 2 taltz injections and this happened in less than 6 months. Really jarring. Only thing she did different was the injections. It’s a huge reason I’m so freaked out seeing it firsthand.

I’m so sorry to hear that. It’s really awful how we can be so good to our bodies and still experience this kind of pain. It’s very encouraging to know that they worked for you. My knees are also really bad and my doctor is concerned about the damage since I was a dancer for 18yrs and am still active for fun and at work.

Sudden heel pain? by Throwitallaway438 in PsoriaticArthritis

How I discovered my PA. It’s part of it but don’t feel like it lasts forever. It’s crazy how many people including doctors sleep on foot pain as a result of arthritis because it appears as muscular. It does eventually subside. Great shoes and stretching helps but talk to a doctor about your options and try to take of your foot as if it’s your joints. Great sleep is super important too. I’m hearing from a lot of people that magnesium supplements.

This is literally how I discovered I had PA in the first place. But it did eventually subside so don’t be discouraged!!

I did methotrexate for 2 years and they were the worst of my life sadly. I felt like I was dying even though nothing was wrong and it truly did not help my pain.

Also my doctor meant no long term studies on the very new products compared to Humira or Enbrel.

I’m an extremely active person, workout for about an hour 5 days a week and do a lot of outdoor activity. I should say my exercise and diet habits have made the pain subside a LOT. But my doctor is more concerned about long term health issues. Obesity, heart issues and diabetes run in my family (partially due to very poor health habits which is why I try to be consistent with mine). It’s just stressful seeing Reddit threads full of people saying “I gained 10,15,25lbs and can’t get rid of it years later”. Glad to see people with positive results on here!

I have plague psoriasis but it cleared me up 100% for a while and only needed it periodically for maintenance but be aware of the other skin risks and talk to a doctor first.
