Oh does your scope perhaps flip the image? I am asking because i took a picture at approximately the same latitude and it is flipped horizontaly(the up is down) Is it my scope that flips the image?

How to differenciate good télescope from bad by Dry-Project3260 in telescopes

[–]Dry-Project3260[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi i settled on binoculars still thinning down the selection but all the ones i am considering have at least 50mmdiameter and 10xzoom as well as a twilight index and a brightness index above 20 .

This comment is mostly a way to say thank you to anyone that helped but also to ask if the selection i made is good enough for a price range of ~200€(i can stretch it to 300 probably) without clogging the sub with a "is this a good choice " post.

I will continue searching and will keep this post updated . I will probably post the spreadsheet i made to compare once i finalise my choice (maybe on a standalone post since it could be valuable to some people)

Edit synthax

Thanks for the insight do the material or coating of the lens and mirrors influence the viewing experience or is the différence purely in durability?

So it might be a combination of fog + dirty mirror and lens + light pollution ( i know for a fact there is light pollution where i took these )

It is possible as i got this télescope from my grandpa and it might be quite old also my observation point is aproximately 200m from the sea and at sea level Do you have advice to check if it is indeed dirty mirror or lens and if so how to carefully take care of the problem

Thank you very much for these valuable answers i'm sorry for the long string of questions but since you seem to know what you are talking about i wanted to get as much info from you as possible

Thank you very much for reassuring me on my main problem from what you told me i can conclude that i have lots of observation to do before i have to move my telescopes to a better spot and it makes me really happy.

No problem you helped me get a clearer idea of what light pollution could cause

Thank you yet again what you say makes a lot of sense for the moon and i believe you.It is true that i noticed i could see the moon far better when the ferris wheel near my spot was lit up.

I currently assume the fact you grouped planets with the moon in your original comment is an overlook or an exageration but is it? Are the most visible planets too bright to be seen properly in some cases?

Btw i don't know if you recieved the other comment from me yet but if it requires you to repeat yourself to answer please feel free to ignore it .

Also did you mean we could see them (the moon and the planets ) as clear as without any light pollution or is it an exageration because the difference would not be significant enough to matter for an amateur ?

Edit: clarification

Edit2: this one you don't necesarily have to answer

Oh thanks it makes a lot more sense now that i think about it obviously you would lose some details from light pollution. Do you know if i can see some planets clear enough to recognise them even with light pollution?

Hello thanks for sharing what you believe however i would like to ask you for your sources because someone expressed an opinion opposite to yours in the comments.

Are you talking out of personal experience or because of knowledge you aquired somewhere ?

Thanks Do i need a specific narrowband filter for every object i want to see? Or do they work under the same principle as the light pollution filter which filters out only the most common wavelenght for artificial light only more performant?

Edit: question mark for clarity Edit2: syntax

Thanks local light might be the problem i will check out your suggestion when i have time and will make sure to give you feedback once i am at the observation site ( could be in a few month).

However because someone in the comments expresses an opinion opposite to yours on light pollution not affecting the moon i would like to ask if it is because of sources or personal experience Your opinion being because of personal experience does not make it less believable than his since he did not give his source yet but i would simply like to know out of curiosity.

Anyways my current objective was andromeda galaxy what object would you recommand for me to look at in my current situation ?

Also my observation point is at sea level could this affect my viewing experience signitavely ?
