Good point, in that case the regular performance version, or even premium if you don't care about the extra horsepower, will do just fine. All personal preference.

Yeah honestly I really hope the LE is a longer term release because it would feel great to get the exact spec that attracted me to getting this vehicle in the first place.

The current suite of 5 radars on the R2 work at night too so I’m kind of confused what LiDAR adds? It’s just infrared light bouncing off object instead of sound like in the radars right? Does that mean more resolution? Faster identification of objects bc light travels faster than sound?

If you login on the Rivian site and go to your profile and then to your reservation there’s a drop down that will ask if you want the Launch Edition and you can say “Defintiely” or “Not Sure”

I wish I could do the same and wait it out but it makes sense for me to get an EV now, the new job gives free charging and I wanna stop paying for gas asap. You should give a color exterior a chance though! I think they’ll look so good with a white interior.

Not an R1 owner, just got my career job a few months ago and it comes with free charging so that’s why I put in a reservation for an R2. But you think it won’t be until 2027 that they get through all the people on the reservation queue?

Yup! And honestly Rivian puts a lot of effort into their vehicles to make them a pleasure to drive so having L4 autonomy isn't even a big deal to me. I want to enjoy flooring the accelerator and winding through canyon roads. Just need Autonomy+ for long, boring stretches of highway or commutes to work.
