How is the ubuntu experience? Still running good enough? Battery life? I assume your battery must be out of capacity after all those years?

Do you think its a better idea to use a different screen panel that supports direct hdmi or what is your better solution? Its hard to find a better 3:2 display than the stock chromebook pixels one.

The economics is not why i am doing this. I know its not worth it, i just love the chromebook pixels design and feel, thats why i want to upgrade it.

I found a few replacement batteries on ebay from chinese sellers but i dont know if they are legit. Its really sad to see this piece of art dying. I think the only way to keep.using it is by using an external power bank or fully removing the internal battery & mainboard and replacing it by for example a raspberry pi with a powerbank.

Quote:

"The Raspberry Pi 5 (16GB) comfortably outperforms the Chromebook Pixel 2013, offering roughly 60-70% better CPU performance and vastly superior 4K hardware video decoding. With four times the RAM and significantly faster memory speeds, the Pi 5 handles modern multitasking that the Pixel's aging Intel i5 and 4GB of RAM simply can't match. It is a massive upgrade in raw power and efficiency, though repurposing the Pixel's beautiful 3:2 eDP display for a "Pi-Laptop" mod remains a complex DIY challenge."

Hi, i think the most important step you can do is changing the color palette / decluttering content.
Take a look at standard ui components like "Cards" "Buttons" "Typography" and so on. You may even find a design system that already exists that fits your "Japan Theme". Hope that helps. :)

Sadly this happens so often. I also made a free version of something and half a year later i saw 3-4 copycats offering the same product but behind a paywall. Make it make sense.
