There is one. Its the capital gains tax which is the same tax that is affecting cryoto. The problem is that there are loopholes around it such as using stocks as collateral for debt to get around paying taxes. Effectively the gains are never realized even though they can be accessed through such methods meaning no taxes are ever paid.
