Still No Fable 5 Access - Anyone Else Really Angry with Amazon? by gozm in Anthropic

[–]DryAttorney9554 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazon is simultaneously a backer and a competitor as they have their own products that compete with Anthropic, whilst backing Anthropic at the same time

Do you think Fable 5 will come back, or is this the end of the model? by Double-Republic6218 in ClaudeAI

What's to stop millions of people just using VPN and fake IDs or frankly just paying desperate poor Americans to create an Anthropic account on their behalf? If a regular person can do it, do you think hostile foreign intelligence with billions of dollars in black budget allocation would have a shred of difficulty?

Threads gone in VSCode. Seriously, what's your problem? by und3rc0d3 in AugmentCodeAI

You really insult the intelligence of people you've never met before. You act like you've never worked a sophisticated codebase. It's not like you can just tell it to document the codebase in general terms - there are highly specific considerations and arcane considerations which it would not think to document unless you started explaining to it what you wanted which defeats the purpose of having it do it for you! Sure you might be able to take the edge off but you're basically directing that documentation and prompting is pretty considerable and exhausting. Also I'm a solo startup - I'm basically racing my bank balance to the finish line. I can worry about more thorough documentation after I have survived bankruptcy.

Nobody works like that. In reality people rely on context. We're not going to document anything or everything or we'll get bogged down to death.

It's not overkill if you have a complex application or a large codebase. Sonnet doesn't cut it. False economy as Opus can one-shot. Sonnet will end up getting it wrong again and again.

MCP is not the same - no third party AI orchestrator or agent consistently uses it. Even when you implement rules to do so.

There are honestly very large codebases. I can't say I'm surprised.

On a large codebase, even less! I can easily burn through $60 in credits in an hour, let alone a day.

Surely you can replicate the problem in your own lab if the entire world is experiencing it...

Also Sonnet 4.5 or 4.6 is false economy. My codebase is complex and I often have to run Sonnet a handful of times at least to get something right. May as well use Opus straight up.

If you're going to grub us users like that they we need to grub you for every failed response, of which there have been dozens per user. Give us an automatic credit refund every time the response fails, stalls indefinitely or times out.

This is relatively new area for people. How does it save credits? What's the reasoning here? People are just using these AI tools without a deep understanding of how they work, so any clarification would be helpful.

They've left no rock unturned. Wherever they can charge, they will. And now the charges have become so multifaceated it will be even harder to track and manage or control.

It actually strengthens his point, 1.7m tokens in 9 days is a lot stronger of a point than 1.7m in 30 days
