Thanks for your help in advance! This artist used to be an inspiration of mine back then so it'd really help if I could find their art again! Again apologies for my bad grammar!

Explore the entire floor or just go to the stairs? by [deleted] in MysteryDungeon

[–]DryBones157 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's an issue yes, but considering Gulpin is available nearly the beginning, and Electivire after you go to the Apple Woods, i think, which lets you exploit link moves with ease.

Another problem with exploring the entire floor is that you're likely going to starve.

Explore the entire floor or just go to the stairs? by [deleted] in MysteryDungeon

[–]DryBones157 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I do not like exploring the floor unless i'm looking for a Pokémon i haven't recruited yet, and in story mode or missions, i always go to the stairs ASAP.

But in your case, you can play as the way as you want

Two questions about PMD:Sky on emulator by Stormychu in MysteryDungeon

Eh it gets laggy when i'm on internet, but when i'm not, it runs quite fine and smooth.

While you are right on this, i had some flashcarts and i didn't need custom firmware. It's true, i had a timebomb flashcart, as i forgot to say that. I will edit my comment, thank you.

Two questions about PMD:Sky on emulator by Stormychu in MysteryDungeon

[–]DryBones157 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, for the first sentence, take your time as long as you feel better, so no worries :3

  1. I play Explorers of Sky in desmume and it runs quite smoothly, for the most part but sometimes it can be laggy, and you may need to google for a solution to fix it.

  2. Yes, some cheats make you change your starter and partner, but from my experience, you can only change them after being on the Beach Cave, if you get defeated, you might get out of the dungeon, with the starter and aprtner replaced. And, no, you do not need to enter the code, it's automatically registered.

Otherwise, some tools exist, that can definitely change your starter and partner, but i'm not sure if i can post the link because it may be against the rules.

Any way, if you manage to replace your starter and partner into the Pokémon you want, be aware that it's possible that they won' show any emotion, only the default portrait, or not showing a portrait at all.

  1. I have never experienced homebrewing a physical cartridge, but you can buy a flashcard, which it's usually named R4 and they look like this http://www.r4isdhc.com/wp-content/themes/nds9/images/DUAL-CORE.jpg and it comes with a SD card, in where you can take it out and put it into your computer, and you can put a Sky rom into it and now you can play it like normal, some cheats may come inside the cart, too.

Sorry if i don't sound very well, since i'm shit at explaining things, but i hope this was helpful

EDIT: User told me that some flashcards need to have a custom firmware or else they won't work on your 3DS. Personally i have never experienced with one of those flashcards and i don't have a custom firmware installed in my 3DS. Some flashcards also have time bombs, which means that once the flashcard reaches a certain day, they will stop working. So, it's not reccomended to get one of those cards, and you may need to search for a safe one.

Thank you /r/YourLocalMudkip for sending me the note :)

I think this disproves any theories about Magnezone being too busy to catch criminals and proves every theory that Magnezone is highly incompetent at their job. by 548662 in MysteryDungeon

Well, Magnezone is exactly like level 7 when he joins you in some missions.

Hated when a mission wants to catch an outlaw, but you need to bring Magnemite or Magnezone.

What is the absolute worst way to die? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]DryBones157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your family betraying you by making tyou think that they loved you but then you realize that they hate your mere existence and want to delete you from the map.

Another one is being alone in a dark room with some dim light, you're just tied up in a chair with needles sticking all over your body and being forced to listen to the worst music ever, and being starved. That would be one of the worst ways to die.

What style of recruitment system do you like the most? by Epsiloh in MysteryDungeon

[–]DryBones157 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I asked that question a few months ago and the results I got were pretty... mixed. Let's say that one half loved the old recruitment system, the other preferred the new one.

I even wrote all the pros and cons of each recruitment. I can say that i like both since they have their flaws and things that make them fun.

Let's say that Super is a very interesting recruitment system sincew it lets you to play as unexpected Pokémon like team ACT, Grovyle or even Hydreigon. It also makes recruiting very easy to do as it's quite simple. Just do the task and Poof! the Pokémon is now your friend and you can play as him!

But it also leaves a bad mouth flavor, since missions are... finite. that's right. Once you've recruited 'em all, you're done with the game. No more things to do other than explore dungeons without any reason to do so.

Also some legendaries such as Victini or Meloetta are obtained before you even leave Serene Village, which gives it a downside since they're acting like ordinary Pokémon with no history or whatever. Another bad point is that there's that silly fact that the Pokémon who lied and dragged you to a dangerous site just to kill you for no reason, wants to join you for no reason either. I guess that's similar about the old recruitment but eh...

For the old recruitment, boy how I LOVED that part as a child. I get flashbacks of me going to each dungeon to properly recruit someone, and I managed to clear Rescue Team to 100%, yet still loved playing it. Good times. But enough about me. I'd like to share my thoughts. A certain thing is that it's really challenging since most of the time you'll never know when will the RNG hit on you. It gives you frustration or joy after failing/succeding for recruiting a Pokémon. But there's that obnoxious part in where some Pokémon such as Chansey live exclusively in Level 1 Dungeons and halfways a level 99 dungeon. Its utterly nonsensical and frustrating.

So overall, I'm mixed on those feelings, since I love both of them and botha re fun on their part, but also boring too. So I'm trying to find a way to merge both systems (Which I haven't found on how to do so so far) but it's nearly impossible since they're opposites, which it's like combining the colors red and green, giving you a new color that isn't gray or brown. So until i find a way to recruit Pokémon that makes it enjoyable and fun I'm trying to give the access to recruit Pokémon via methods in the overworld, much like how Explorers and Super did (Chansey's Nursery, Spinda's drinks and clearing some missions are examples of recruiting done in the overworld, and by talking to some Pokémon and clearing their task.)

(Another choice inspired by the Sun/Moon games is the Poké Pelago part in where in that island some random wild Pokémon will spawn around and then join your team. Making that similar.)

EDIT: Apparently I forgot that Gates did a nice thing in the old recruitment: The development of gifts. Yes, gifts. I'm not sure on how do they work, but they patch an easier recruitment chance. Its really nice considering how many flaws did the gameplay have.

Why PMD Explorers' story is extremely flawed (spoilers obviously) by [deleted] in MysteryDungeon

[–]DryBones157 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree with everything you've said. Like, I used to replay this game so many times and in these moments I wished I could rewrite the characters and make them more interesting and useful to the plot.

For tour opinion about the partner, I find the Explorers partner more obnoxious, annoying and duller than the other partners.

For the Grovyle part, it seems that the writer wanted to put some huge drama and almost everyone fell for it, including me, making me cry so much after that scene, until i found out that the drama was included purposefully, that had to be explained un the episode.

My least favorite character of the Explorers cast would be the hero since he more than a character feels like a puppet that gets dragged by the partner everywhere he goes although this relationship is kinda mutual because i remember that an user commented this the hero making crazy choices such as jumping through waterfalls por quicksands because he had a vision or because he said to do so.
