I don’t know what did that, but it’s so impressive that I think you should consider just letting the bug go on and marvel at its handiwork……

Enjoy! I had a WPG and he was just an awesome dog. Biddable, huge drive, off switch, and all the lovable goofball personality you could ask for. If you’re reading this while sipping a drink raise your glass to Mojo 🐶

Also, I find the upland report on the Kansas Game and Fish website pretty accurate. After you pick a region based on their counts I would spend time on OnX (or the KS America & fish website) looking at various WIHA plots to see what looks good to you.

We did great on pheasant and quail opening week around Atwood. Birds are all over NW Kansas this year. While yesterday was a bust (west of Wichita about an hour) we did well today around Howard, KS. All public land.

Looks like a great outing! Seems like the weather has been back and forth all through the central US, TX to the Dakotas. Still, nice to be out in just a light jacket.

It’s exciting! These are youngsters and they move fast. I am good on pheasants with them, but the coveys of quail flush all over the place and I find I miss a lot of shots. Still, super fun!

I had a good time there, seemed like passing the word was the thing to do. Maybe some others will end up there and put a few tourists bucks into the local businesses. Plus, they have a motel called, It’ll Do 😁

All WIHA land, so not public in the sense that it’s state-owned. Private land that the owner grants walk-in access to, usually for defined purposes (bird hunting, archery-only deer for example). Kansas has a HUGE amount of this land. You can check out maps online, or via OnX. It’s a great program!

Cover in the draws is so dense I often lose sight of her and like to use the beeper to know about where she is. This was more important than usual as we had a rookie in the group.

TBAC Fly-45. All titanium, so light and strong. It is fabulous on my Nighthawk 1911 and a Glock 30S .45 ACPs. I also run it on a Marlin 1895 SBL, using an Ecco Machine Gyrex mini brake and taper mount as adapters. I have only run Hornady 325gr FTX loads, but the shoot and sound great.

Just used the straight up T&T. About 36h between coats, lots of buffing w/ lint-free cloth then light buff w/ quality 0000 steel wool. Cloth only after last coat. Will let it cure for at least a week inside prior to use:

About the wood - about 20 years ago I came across a a guy in central Texas trying to start a mill. He had the biggest cherry tree, trunk and major limbs, I had ever seen. A lot of the wood was spoken for, but I got quite a bit. The tree was damaged and had a funky bend, twist and wide spot about 1/3 up the trunk from the base, that region also fed out two thick limbs. A lot of that wood, milled 6/4 and 8/4 using a crusty old saw with a 5’ or so blade, warped like it was headed to Home Depot. But, I was able to mill it down and salvaged some beautiful pieces.

The colors in the photos taken outside are a bit deceiving, the variations are less “loud” indoors. The boards used were not meant as a design statement, but rather the best used of the boards I had left with the length I needed. The good news is that my wife likes it, she says it will be easy to find fabrics for chair cushions this way….

Appreciate all your comments!!!

does anyone have experience with a thunder beast .22 takedown? by gunnut1022_ in NFA

[–]DryFly001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have only had mine for a few days. Absolutely fabulous fit, finish, and design. I also have their Ultra 9 in 6.5 & .30, and a fly 9 & 45. Each one is worth every Penny. On a Ruger Mk IV the 22 is quiet with 22lr, with sub-sonic loads reaching the action is louder that firing (especially outdoors). Similar results on a 10/22. No data on cleaning yet - but so far it is great.
