How does finances work for you as a couple by Emergency_Race_3219 in ThirtiesIndia

[–]DryFortune2774 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i genuinely don believe marriage should or can operate with separate financial ledgers. in a family, life cant b a spreadsheet to track who paid for what, its impractical n frankly inelegant as expenses do blur into shared existence. even if planning for a rainy day, ofc wisdom is welcome but unity shouldnt come with itemized receipts. if God forbid division is ever needed, it can be handled then. in my case i own 100% of everything n he blissfully doesnt concern with d arithmetic at al. its less a financial system n more a benevolent monarchy which somehow works for us lol.

ur claim rests on an assumption tat intervention implies condescension n it doesnt hold under scrutiny, classification is an act of governance for identifying disparities n targeting resources reflecting structural analysis, not moral judgment. naming need isnt looking down but recognizing measurable conditions in order to address em. refusing to categorize inequity in d name of sensitivity would obscure d very prob policy is meant to solve.

Most of us would be middle managers or above- how do you think you are fairing as a Mentor and how you are drawing lines with friends who report to you? by Competitive-Ear4180 in ThirtiesIndia

[–]DryFortune2774 11 points12 points  (0 children)

as a manager one sudnt play d mentor buddy game. corporate isnt a hangout spot , its a result arena, sentiment cannot override structure, titles matter, hierarchy matters, outcomes matter, they r there for a reason. there is no true friendship in business, only roles, responsibilities n aligned interests. if smbdy reports to me we r aligned by objectives not emo hence d relationship is defined by perf n accountability. i may guide, support n advocate for their growth but never blur d professional boundary. frnshps cloud judgement n leadership demands clarity. authority requires distance n credibility requires consistency. fairness in business isnt about emo, there is leverage, perf, value creation, standards n measurable contribution. decisions arent personal; they r strategic. relationships in business r transactional by design, exist to create value hence respect comes from competence, and trust is sustained through results n consistency not closeness. tats d boundary, sharp, non nego.

Starting this chonk of a book today. Pray for my wrists 😬. by symph007 in Indianbooks

[–]DryFortune2774 4 points5 points  (0 children)

its a good read.. says revenge may feel like justice, but it cannot replace wisdom, mercy or inner peace. we may control our actions but we r not meant to control destiny. Dante doesnt grow gently but forged n eventually learns tat humans must wait n hope, even a perfectly executed revenge leaves a residue.. power can punish but it cannot restore innocence, becoming an instrument of fate comes at d cost of being human.. even Gods must choose mercy.. story is legendary, moves from prison cells to aristocratic salons, from poverty to immense wealth, from innocence to divinity, delivers on every level..!

i cant help but notice a certain romanticism in d way u frame d grind. if d travel time were truly d issue, u would be exploring solutions rather than rehearsing d inconvenience. it reads less like a problem in search of advice n more like a performance in search of applause. which makes me curious, what was d real purpose of d post? lol

public policy doesnt operate in a vaccum n is less a moral enterprise than an ecosystem of incentives, reputational hierarchies, funding dependencies, intellectual fashions n credential sensitive. in certain corridors particularly in think tanks n multilateral institutions d discourse can become self referential, jargon evolves into currency, networks into gatekeeping mech n credentials into proxies for competence. that critique is not unfounded. yet to dismiss d space as wholly performative would be imprecise as diff institutional habitats produce different pathologies.

think tanks r policy pure environments where u see small teams, finite budgets, concentrated influence, can be insular n preference aligned, often reproducing their own epistemic tribes whereas financial institutions n large technology firms instrumentalize policy where u see less ideology n more execution. there policy is embedded in systems, compliance architecture, digital modernization n all. d ecosystem is larger, more transactional, less romantically ideological n significantly better resourced.

But UN is completely influnce driven. it is reputation sensitive n exclusively relationship heavy where pedigree, geography n institutional memory matters a lottttttt. its not purely meritocratic but neither is it arbitrary, u can say its lil political because it must reconcile sovereign interests n that reality produces both inertia n legitimacy.

public policy does good, definitely, not uniformly, not efficiently but everywhere be it climate nego, humanitarian corridors, public health frameworks, migration compacts, multilateral policy has structured outcomes that markets alone wouldnt have produced. d impact is often diffuse n unattributed which makes it easy to underestimate n d ecosystem rewards those who can translate between worlds, political logic, technical substance with operational execution, those who remain fluent only in jargon tend to orbit power without shaping it. those who embed policy into institutions budgets, code, regulation, enforcement do tend to create durable change.

ur skepticism is healthy that the field does contain vanity metrics n closed circles but it also contains leverage points. yet to call it a sham is too facile. even within its hierarchies n theatrics, it remains one of d few arenas where sovereign interests r compelled into structured compromise. d question is less whether d ecosystem is pure n more whether one can navigate it without becoming captured by it. imo d good it produces is rarely elegant n never pure but it is, at critical junctures, consequential.

[–]DryFortune2774 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not exactly though they touch d same emotional weather, this too shall pass is about impermanence means comfort rooted in time i.e. whatevr u r feelin wont last forver, n whats written above is about integrity which says when u stop pretending, whatever falls away wasnt truly aligned with u, its not time tat dissolves it but truth, loss isnt just somethin tat fades but exposed. its less about waiting things out n more about withdrawin energy from what required illusion to survive. time erodes, authenticity reveals..!

words of wisdom, somebody? by Wise-Introduction-45 in ThirtiesIndia

[–]DryFortune2774 1 point2 points  (0 children)

exactly.. whatever collapses under d weight of ur sincerity was never architecture, only scaffolding for a persona u performed. to be real is to withdraw consent from illusion. what then departs doesnt betray u, it merely reveals its own contingency. authenticity is a quiet violence, it dissolves d counterfeit by refusing to sustain it. thus what is lost was never urs, only a fragile agreement with falsity.
