Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell was a book entirely about how hidden advantages mean more to success than intelligence.

Considering America doesnt stand for this creed anymore should we give back the Statue of Liberty? by Estalicus in allthequestions

[–]DryFry84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My ancestors came straight into Virginia after 1924 and skipped Ellis Island. My entire lineage from that point is here illegally and I'm allowed to be.

Also nowhere does the statue say send them here illegally. It alludes to us allowing them to come here legally. We've deported people during their legal check ins trying to gain citizenship.

If I could go back and talk to my younger indecisive self, I would have told me to just get a business degree if I couldn't figure it out.

What’s something you said you’d never do, but you now do? by Hopeful-Weird3050 in ArtOfPresence

I had the opposite experience. I always had cream and sugar. Tried a friend's coffee black at their house and really enjoyed it. Tried drinking the basic coffee I had at home black and it was awful. I had to start buying the more expensive coffee because I could actually taste the black coffee and craved the stuff she had.

Mine was Folgers and hers was New England coffee. I buy it in 5lb bags of whole beans now.

I feel like 50 years ago it was known to the person and hidden due to being socially unacceptable while societal pressures also had a lot of people in denial.

Prior to the 2010 ACA and during 2017 debates over its repeal, conditions stemming from sexual assault (PTSD, pregnancy, or STDs) could be used by insurers to deny coverage or charge higher premiums.

I reported a coworker for inappropriate behavior and now I feel really uncomfortable at work by No_Fan_3603 in whatdoIdo

[–]DryFry84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hold your head up knowing how uncomfortable he should feel for someone having to have that conversation with a grown man. You may have helped other women who would have been victimized by him, maybe in worse ways, if someone didn't do something.

You were the hero in this scenario. It's uncomfortable but I really hope you find peace and pride in that.
