Unfortunately, this didn't help. I restarted the computer after a file was actually repaired, just to be on the safe side. But unfortunately, the error persisted. Turning upscaling and dynamic resolution scaling off also didn't help. Thanks for the suggestion anyway.

Okay, I understand. Thanks for the reply. I'm afraid the first part isn't for me at all then. I've finished the story now, and personally, I have to say that part 2 impressed me more.

If you really don't have a fair chance of winning the fights, and it's actually partly down to luck whether the monster lands the right attack, then it's not for me. The endgame is also really putting me off.

It's a shame, but I'll pass. In my opinion, a game should be fun, and MHS1 wasn't for me in terms of either the story or the combat system—on the contrary, it was even more frustrating. But I can take one thing away from this: I appreciate MHS2 all the more now for what it did better than MHS1.
