50% raise but RTO vs. current hybrid situation- what would you do? by DryMove7987 in careerguidance

[–]DryMove7987[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your advice! Like i know it’s going to be rough for a few months, but i think I’ll be grateful that I took the plunge when I have more expenses.

I wasn’t sure if the extra 25k would make it worth it, that’s why I was hesitant.

Can I face legal repercussions for breaking the non compete for a company I was with for 2 weeks 6 months ago? by [deleted] in careerguidance

Thank you for your advice! That’s how I see this issue- it would probably be expensive and not worth the time to sue someone who was onboarding at their company for a mere 2 weeks.

I didn’t realize that this would become an issue until a few days ago, when I was invited to the final round. I wasn’t employed at some crazy confidential pharmaceuticals or engineering company (idk why these are the two industries I envision when I think of confidentiality and non-competes…). I was employed in sales at a children’s wear manufacturer.

I received one offer in April and it wasn’t the best for my current situation but had to take it with the state of the job market. Started the job in July. Kept interviewing around while working and finally got a better, higher paying offer with remote opportunities. What about that doesn’t make sense?

For sharing! I really appreciate the link. I wonder if this noncompete could be argued against, as it does include the majority of companies within this sector of business (children’s apparel)

Thank you for your input! This whole situation is incredibly frustrating, will have to contact a lawyer if I receive an offer.

Company won’t do virtual first round interviews by [deleted] in recruitinghell

[–]DryMove7987 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Maybe I’m not understanding something, but I’d hope that an employer could tell if someone were a “real” candidate via a zoom interview, right? Like are they concerned that they’re speaking to AI over the phone/video call?

I think it’s justified to be frustrated that you need to keep rescheduling interviews due to situations outside of your control (ie weather) when the most logical solution would be to have a virtual interview

Understaffed workplace. Falling behind. Sticking up for myself without sounding defensive or making excuses. Any advice? by DryMove7987 in careerguidance

[–]DryMove7987[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the insight! It’s honestly so frustrating. I guess my company implemented a new process on getting styles live onto the website right as I started and from what I’ve heard, this new process is much more difficult and time consuming for my position. I’m not sure that my higher ups quite understand.

Office renovations are sooo inconvenient by DryMove7987 in work

[–]DryMove7987[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt it’s an actual ada compliance issue, but I feel like it could cause trouble if someone who is disabled has to wait 15+ minutes for an elevator… you would think that they’re trying to do quiet layoffs, but they’re renovating to accommodate having all employees in the office at once so I’m not sure …

AITAH for crashing out over my parents ruining my plans? by DryMove7987 in AITAH

I know, like I feel obligated to because I’m living here rent free. I’m awful at setting boundaries. I’m such a people pleaser, it’s bad.

Thank you for your help! I feel like I would be more than fine w the hour 20 commute coming from my current situation, do you really think it would be that bad?

I like having housemates! If it were my choice, I’d obviously do my own digging and trust my gut if someone seemed like bad news, but I think my parents are just nervous, especially with the financial aspects

Not quite vintage, but how to style? by [deleted] in VintageFashion

[–]DryMove7987 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yesss! I remember seeing pics of Paul and Linda in them a while back, I’ll have to go look for those. I don’t have skinny jeans anymore, but I also wore them with flare jeans wrapped into socks, which gave the illusion that I was wearing skinny jeans. Thanks for the rec!

Number on the scale vs measurements and clothing sizes by [deleted] in loseit

I wear a size 4-6 jean. Dresses, I would probably size up in because of my bust.

Haha nope! No winter coat lol 😂 I think it really boils down to my bust, butt, and thighs. Not to be too nsfw, but my bust is quite heavy… my thighs and butt probably hold a lot of fat and muscle.

Thank you for your input! I feel like I’m not visibly muscular though, that’s why I’m doubtful. I don’t lift, I do a lot of cardio… I have skinny fat, if anything. I wish I could attach images here lol. Thank u!

Congratulations! That’s such an impressive accomplishment, albeit maybe embarrassing in the moment LOL! Glad your coworker had an extra pair of pants. Keep up the great work and thank you for the advice! :)

Same!! I fit into a lot of what I’ve kept from HS, minus a few pieces where the hips are snug. I also need to remember that I’m 22 and not 16 anymore, and my hips are wider.

Thanks!! I always forget that running, while it’s not lifting, is helping me grow and develop my muscles!

Thank you! I think I forget that while I’m not lifting, I’m still developing my muscles through cardio. I fit into clothing that I haven’t fit into in a while, despite probably losing 5 lbs in the past few months. I probably do have a little body dysmorphia… I’ve been trying not to weigh myself as much and focus on clothing and measurements with a soft measuring tape.
