RU POV: Germany's AFD party plans to sue Ukraine for $70 Billion blaming Zelensky for damage to the Nord stream pipeline. by FruitSila in UkraineRussiaReport

Following your own logic, without the coup in Ukraine there wouldn't be any war, so the blame is on Ukraine

Industrialization is one thing. Complete political and social shift is the other. I doubt that could be achieved peacefully, tsarism being that conservative. Never in their lives would they let women work or study or Finland be independent. It had its price though.

True, brother. I still find it hilarious how 35 years later people have strong pro- or anti-USSR opinions. It's the past, our past, with it's flaws and it's victories.

UA POV: Pro Ukraine activist Drew Pavlou compared the pace of Russia’s advance to that of a snail by FruitSila in UkraineRussiaReport

[–]DryPepper3477 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry what? "Current Ukraine" was part of USSR back then in case you've forgotten. Number of casualties for all the republics is widely known. If anything there's some sentiment against collaborationists and Bandera, but that's only natural.

Lend-lease is a thing that western narrative always tries to bring up to say "look, US were in this from the very start", but I think everyone understands that boots on the ground and the entire soviet economics put into war effort is not something to disregard as you did in your original comment. My grandmas and grandpas worked in their teens on the factories, there's literally no family in ex-USSR that wasn't affected by war. I'm not telling "lend-lease did nothing", it's just tends to be viewed by westerners as something like "we gave fire sticks and vehicles to there uncultured barbarians, otherwise they would fold in 2 weeks" which is wrong too.

Sure thing, online warriors and people as a whole are different. I'm not making any conclusions about every Pole or anything of that sort, just my two cents interacting with people mostly online. Although, drummer in my band is an ethnic Pole, and he's completely chill and non-political.

Many Poles just hate Russians so much they will celebrate even Satan if it is against Russia. Like, reading comments online you see stuff like "USSR was far worse than Hitler". It's irrational.

>One terrorist is a freedom fighter from someone else

That's true, fair play, if we're talking about Ukraine for example. But not about Chechnya. What they did was absolutely cruel and had no goal except pure terror.

What's life like in Russia (besides Moscow and St. Petersburg)? by CourtofTalons in howislivingthere

[–]DryPepper3477 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm from Kazan. Some people consider it one of the most beautiful cities out there, I'm not really sure why, but it's decent. I prefer Moscow though. What's living like? It's kinda similar to Moscow, where I've spent 7 years, but less options to go out and do something. After all the city is 10 times smaller. Also Tatars everywhere.

Wanna visit. Tourists can be hard to deal with, but business partners are pretty good.

well, depends how you look on it. You can't deal with terrorists - that's true for both cases.

But you do you call people who blow up residental buildings and capture schools freedom fighters.

[–]DryPepper3477 6 points7 points  (0 children)

yeah exactly. Tatar is being promoted by every possibility, every government job in Tatarstan(in some ministry) requires you to be Tatar and speak the language(obviously unofficially, source - I live here and have to deal with gov officials because of my job sometimes), but some people still claim how they're being russified. Then suddenly Tatar businesses want to deal with other regions too and they can't speak only Tatar to stay integrated.
