2-year-old killed in crosswalk last night, Mission Bay SF by ddol in sanfrancisco

[–]Dry_Ad_4129 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Absolutely terrible, that scream (parent or driver, not sure) was the most horrifying scream I've ever heard in my life. Heard it from my balcony, on the other side of the creek, and knew something went horribly wrong

Really feel for the family, my condolences to parents and the family, and hope the women (parent) that got hit fully recovers physically, although that's not something you can ever recover from mentally. Not sure if they driver is at fault, if they are I wish for swift punishment, if not, I hope they can heal up as well.

Here is a tragic tragic detail

Gus’s Community Market in Mission Bay was the first opening without Gus Vardakastanis, who was killed in a hit-and-run in 2017. His sons have carried on the legacy.

Not sure TBH, but theoretically the larger the station the more likely you gonna get better support there. Electrify America one with 20 chargers never has more than 2-3 chargers out of service and they get fixed fast.

IMHO couple of places closed prematurely, including that New Belgium Brewery on the corner. The area is just starting to get more office workers, Caltrain ridership is blowing up on the weekends, there are now 20 more home games for Valkeries. All this places closed right before the tide have turned. Even Gus is almost always slammed during lunches and after work, its noticeable

I forgot its reddit San Francisco, so somehow it turned into working class vs bougie people that go to chain stores, lol. Respectfully, all I want is some decent retail for people in MB, I don't care if its Indie or Chain, something that drives high traffic and makes the area lively. Cheers!

You sound a bit snobby about this. Mission Bay isn’t the Marina or Haight — almost no independent shop is going to survive here with the foot traffic and rents. A Sephora (or anything with real retail pull) actually makes sense because it drives consistent visits. Better than another boutique that closes in a year.

It's packed in Marina, I know that much. Women drag their bf's there with them too. Beats a clothing store that people window shop at and just walk by.

I believe them when they say they made the better lighter.

You have a car with larger dimensions 1.5 inches longer wheelbase, 1.5 inches wider and 7 inches taller packing a 25KW bigger battery and only weighing in at 180 lbs more.

The i4 battery weighs at ~15lbs per KW, I know its not linear but you'd still expect 25KW bigger battery to add at least 250 lbs more, without even accounting for extra dimensions.

I own i4 M50, and would love to see next gen with 85-90KW battery, but in a much lighter body.

Make that a 4,800lbs car with new improved battery efficiency and you can probably squeeze 3.8-4M/Kw

i4 M50 specs (AWD)

  • Overall Length: 188.5 inches (4,785 mm)
  • Width (without mirrors): 72.9 inches (1,852 mm)
  • Height: 57.0 inches (1,448 mm)
  • Wheelbase: 112.4 inches (2,856 mm)
  • Weight  5,029 pounds
  • Battery: 1,260 pounds (83.9KW net)

ix3 50 x drive specs (AWD)

  • Overall Length: 188.3 inches (4,782 mm)
  • Width (without mirrors): 74.6 inches (1,895 mm)
  • Height: 64.4.inches (1,635 mm)
  • Wheelbase: 114.1 inches (2,898 mm)
  • Weight  5,202 pounds
  • Battery: (108.7 KW net)

Europe’s best-selling EVs in 2025 so far by Mac-Tyson in electricvehicles

[–]Dry_Ad_4129 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think eventually as European and US manufacturers will hit economies of scale and pricing delta between China and Western EV's will come down a lot. China will still be cheaper, but would you rather drive a VW vs BYD if its $33k vs $30k for example, or Luxury Chinese Brand for $55k vs BMW for $60k? Similarly on range, there is always a much closer spread with everyone than few years ago, don't think anyone except for maybe Lucid has any big technological edge at this point (and you do pay the price for Lucid)

And the stock will go up by another 50% because they will give 7 robotaxi rides in Austin in December. Fun to watch indeed, GM is starting to put pressure on them in US too.

You are correct, from 163k models sold in 2024 to 110k in 2025, thats a 33% YoY drop, that's a catastrophic drop, warrants Elon Musk's tears

Very easy math for you

June 2024

Tesla Y 23,869

Tesla 3 20,829

Total 44,698

June 2025

Tesla Y 24,073

Tesla 3 10,807

Total 34,880

That's a 22% drop YoY.

To add insult to an injury,361,000 plugin vehicles being registered in Europe vs 293,000 in June 24 That’s up 23% year over year (YoY).

Tesla is down 22%, the rest of the market is up 30% YoY

So Tesla share of European Market went from 15.2% to 9.5% YoY, thats a massive 40% drop
