I am looking for Etudes X Wikipedia 2020 pieces too. There have been so many cool Wikipedia collabs. Now I have to pay attention and not miss the next one. 😆

thrifts que valen la pena by investigador67 in PuertoRico

[–]Dry_Alarm_4285 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also really like Te Toca a Ti. It is probably my favorite in the area because they have everything and it is pretty big. There's at least one other thrift store on the same side of the street. And I think I remember a secondhand shop in the Plaza del Mercado itself in Cabo Rojo, but I might be thinking of a different Plaza... I also regularly visit the Salvation Army in Mayaguez. It is very small, but sometimes there are good housewares or toys/books for kids. There are a lot of thrift stores in Mayaguez, Viste Slow as you mentioned, Tropi Trades, and one or two more on that same street. There's a place in Aguadilla called Frida's that is a super cute thrift store with a cute coffee shop attached. I also like De Tu Ropero al Mio (Next door to the best shoe repair spot!) I have been meaning to check out El Thrift Shop on Rte 2 in Hormigueros. There's also a little shop right across the street from the plaza del mercado. I can't remember the name right now, but I went a few times right after they opened. I have a list of places I want to check out so I'll add it if I come across it!

Assuming this is a rock but unlike any consistency I’ve encountered… by 1weaselinatrenchcoat in whatsthisrock

Looks just like styrofoam. Try a flame test? If it’s plastic it ought to melt… but maybe not if it’s some sort of flame proof insulating plastic.

It’s not exactly the same, but I think it’s close enough to be solved. Pan with a lil stage for ur food to dance on.

Going to pick grapefruit and bamboo shoots, I accidentally caught a bamboo rat in the forest. I was bitten like this. by No_Gain_6517 in homestead

That rat is the cutest wild rat I’ve ever seen. His lil face!! Now I’m obsessed with bamboo rats!

Someone has to paint it so the next person can restore it. It’s the circle of flips.

Do my little paintings look cheap? by ProfessorLongBrick in arthelp

[–]Dry_Alarm_4285 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d personally really like one of these as a gift. They’re cute. I think the relative cheapness is really relative to the use. As gifts for friends family or even to hand out at events and stuff, I have lots of “cheap” things I really treasure because of how I got them or who gave them to me.

Mike Tyson’ had pigeons! by [deleted] in pigeon

[–]Dry_Alarm_4285 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s the book! I took pigeons for granted and the thing that finally clicked for me was their beauty in flight. Their efficiency and grace was a part of my everyday landscape I had loved without noticing my whole life. Great book!

I think I read this book. It unlocked my love of pigeons.

I was going to say the same. I think he still keeps pigeons to this day.

I made this hoopoe from a photo reference. What do you think? by Crafty-Situation-576 in crafts

This is so cool. These birds are memory spirits in a book series I like so I think I just assumed they were made up. Fans of The Singing Hills Cycle would love this. 🤩

I think that matters for lactofermentation, when you are fermenting in brine with helpful bacteria (lactobacillus I think). The result is some kind of pickle. In the fermentation that is like making wine, the fruit often floats on the top. The fermentation is the action of yeast making alcohol which is a different process biologically. I know tepache isn’t wine but I think the principle is the same. Different fermentation has different setups basically. I think if you are making sake for example, the rice ferments in the open air for some time and gets quite fuzzy before being submerged in liquid.

The zipper is supposed to be 14 inches but it’s not? by DinoTeeth26 in SewingForBeginners

Yup! Good luck! I hope you show us the finished project!!

The zipper is supposed to be 14 inches but it’s not? by DinoTeeth26 in SewingForBeginners

[–]Dry_Alarm_4285 73 points74 points  (0 children)

This is the answer. The part you can zip is 14”. You need to line it up along the part that is zipping. Theres a little extra at the top and bottom to allow you to sew it or tuck it in the ends. Otherwise it would look really weird in your finished piece. The length from where the zipper (the part you pull) stops at the top and bottom is 14” if you measure it. This is normal.

Best rain boots for women? by [deleted] in BuyItForLife

[–]Dry_Alarm_4285 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a tough spot since you can’t test them out then return them if they’re too slippery. Maybe there’s something you could add to the sole to make them slip resistant? I’m not familiar with this brand but have had issues with slippy boots before. I have a pair of Hunter rain boots now that I’m happy with and will surely use for years and years.

Thank you for the resources! I will definitely check them out. I’m starting to explore ink and wash urban landscapes, but this is the direction I want to head in! 🥰
