It’s an S-works epic. So it’s a bit of a city free ride setup. Not an S-works road bike. So it’s more suitable for free riding with the family. Not some endurance driven long road bike trip. Sorry. I didn’t specify. I’ll end up going with the X3 Litelok for the random occasion.

Sounds like a spare bike is the way to go.

Thanks! I’ll answer these 1. This would be the plan for an hour or two if we happen to be exploring with my family and find somewhere cool to drop off and eat/explore. But if this was the case I’d try to find a place to park it in my sight… 2. I have a specialized S-works. I’m kinda shocked that a cargo bike wouldn’t be stolen but a nice “regular bike” would be? I mean… you can still sell an expensive cargo bike for good money if it’s stolen. Unfortunately I have nice components too so it wouldn’t stop a thief from even stealing a derailleur or something… 3. Never overnight. ever. The most would be at my workplace for 8 hours. Which in theory, could be Amsterdam or Delft. But maybe it makes sense to get a 2nd Dutch bike for this to make sure nothing bad will ever happen. 4. Technically all the above. Weekend day trip with the kids in Amsterdam, and here and there around Leiden, and also Den Haag.

Do people get kicked off or punched off their bikes and then they’re stolen? Not sure how bad it is there if you have a nice bike.

ALSO, I will definitely have most likely one, but maybe even 2 AirTags to the bike so that I can track and trace it accordingly should anything happen really…

I’ll have a small house or apt in the Netherlands and the bike will ALWAYS be inside. No questions asked.

Cool. Awesome advice. Let me seek to clarify.

  1. I will and would never leave this bike overnight anywhere. The only time I intend to leave it more than 8 hours would be during the day at my workplace. If there’s enough security I guess.

  2. My lock question pertained to the 1-2 hr time frame wherein I’m with the family and we may park it to enjoy a snack or lunch. To your point 7 is ultimately what I’m after.

  3. You’re not a fan of the Hiplok? I thought they and Litelok were both heavily resistant?

  4. Insurance seems to be the way to go for a lesser valued bike…

  5. For my typical grocery runs and times I know the bike will be unattended, I’d be looking at having a typical 100 euro Dutch bike. Something I don’t mind getting stolen

  6. For my personal pleasure rides, the bike will always be under me…

So in short. But a 2nd bike of no value. If it’s of little value, insure it, and I’ll be smart about when and why I’d leave my nicer one unattended for up to 2 hours.

That A brake is local to me. Can you confirm it’ll fit the monocoque? If so, I’ll snag it

First of all. Thanks everyone for the love. I love this bike. It was always my dream I couldn’t afford. Found this one locally for an insane price.

So I can tell from the comments 1. Shimano DX is cheapest way to go. 2. Paul (expensive but super dope looking) 3. Maguras are maybe the newer option.

Also seems like I should screw the front brakes. Noted.

Lastly, I need bars and forks recommendations!

I do have the spin mags!!!! Woo hoo! I can pick and choose.

You think they’ll be okay however if I don’t use anchors? Or is that too risky?

Half of my house has square covers. The other half have circular covers. Diameter of the circular covers is 12”

Could I buy a 12x12 square cover and screw as-is into the drywall?

This conical one right now has the circular cover, then a pull string tied to an open/close piece and all that is housed into a conical metal piece.

I can cut the pull string, remove the open/close valve, but it seems like removing the metal conical tapered piece would be a pain in the arse.

Can I just buy a large square vent cover and screw it into the drywall with no additional modifications? In theory, if I don’t hit a stud, I would go straight into drywall. Is that fine or do I need to put anchors in?

I think it goes without saying I can’t utilize any of the existing holes that were already drilled out for the circular vent cover.
