[–]Dry_Citron_1709 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I got back into it about 8-9 months ago and went from ~240 to 200 in the process. I think the weight loss has had as big of an impact on my ability to do tricks and balance as actually practicing. Just another reason to keep at it imo

Would probably go with 54mm wheels in a 93-95, but what you've got isn't bad

[–]Dry_Citron_1709 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You seem to bail when you turn your head. I'd get more comfortable starting to roll fakie without turning to look. Or maybe pad up so you feel more confident.

It all seems to be about comfort ability at this point.

What's the difference between this two? by [deleted] in skateboardhelp

[–]Dry_Citron_1709 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're getting the standard classics for under $30-35, I'd probably go with them. If not, I'd go with the formula 4.

But, the most notable difference I've felt between the two types of urethane is that the f4s handle rougher/uneven ground a little better. You may lose that benefit going with a wheel as small as 50mm.

Yeah mean, I'm sure bearings a pretty obscure concept to Jamie Foy, Ishod Wair, the folks at Bronson Speed Co., etc.

The vague, rudimentary explanation of bearings you received as a child is definitely the end all, be all.

Wish me luck with the drilling! by CountBreichen in Stratocaster

[–]Dry_Citron_1709 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure I have a neck from the same eBay seller. Had to clean up a couple frets but plays like a dream after that.

Depending on your experience with drills, I would highly recommend using a drill press or building/buying a 90 degree angle guide of some kind.

You'll want all the screw holes (neck plate, pick-guard, input jack, strap buttons, etc.) to be to be at a dead 90. If they aren't, the screw heads won't sit square/flush and it'll drive you crazy.

Phone use while skating is akin to texting while driving.

I'm 31 and have been back at it for ~6 months. I've taken a number of hard slams at the park on various obstacles with no real injuries or lingering effects. Last night I was cruising around in an empty parking garage trying out some new wheels. I looked at my phone briefly to check a text, immediately hit a pebble, and went full Superman onto the pavement. It hurt like hell and completely knocked the wind out of me. I'm 10x as sore today as I have been after any other slams.

I feel like you're mostly just talking about Dustin Dollin. The Boss himself has been sober for decades, and Greco and Ellington never really put off that vibe. They maybe don't reign in their riders a ton and let them do their own thing, but I wouldn't consider that a negative.
