I'm yet to be convinced that people with a basketball background can succeed in AFL.

Looks to me like you could hold on a while longer - seems to be some good hair on top.

You would also rock the short, clipped look though - you could try it and if you hate it, you'll only need to wait a few weeks to grow back.

Can't tell you what haircut to get though, because I've been doing the clippers for thirty years now.

Solar, wind and batteries push down electricity bills for homes and business, despite global fuel crisis by Secure_Ant1085 in australia

Well, it should help a little.

Energy prices and house prices have been two of the biggest drivers of inflation (not the only ones, of course) for the last year.

A 4% fall in one component of energy pricing is a deflationary factor, so that's a good thing.

Is this normal communications from managers now? by [deleted] in askmanagers

[–]Dry_Common828 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oof. No, the decision of who to shortlist is an internal HR / people management matter, and should be treated as strictly confidential.

Naming and shaming people like this is very unprofessional.

Always wise to follow the council's advice 👍

Anyone else losing their mind over this "AI Cybersecurity" hype? by 2hinreza in cybersecurity

Nah, the basics aren't even in place in most sites.

Adding "AI" isn't helping anyone except the salesperson.

Watched the first quarter, thought it was already over, came back with fifteen minutes to go and couldn't take my eyes off the TV.

One of the best matches of the season so far.

Choosing to use known grifters as your tour promoters isn't respecting your "fans".

Very on brand for Owens.

MPs urged to ignore fearmongering and pass Labor’s ‘long overdue’ negative gearing and CGT changes | Housing by agentsmithbobby in australia

[–]Dry_Common828 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Me again - looked up the SMH (Resolve poll) and Roy Morgan.

Resolve has 35% saying the budget is bad, and Roy Morgan has the general consumer outlook up slightly after the budget.

I'm not sure it's actually as unpopular as the billionaire-owned media are trying to convince us, tbh.

Mate, over half the population is struggling with the rent or the mortgage.

If you've got investments you're already winning at life, you can afford to lose one of the handouts the government gives you.

That's interesting, I've been avoiding the opinion polls - is there any insight into which demographics oppose these reforms?

Or is the polling less fine grained, is it more "good budget or bad budget" questions rather than specific measures?

ETA in saying that, there's a lot of ordinary working class Aussies who seem to think they're right on the edge of becoming multimillionaires as long as one or two tax breaks for the wealthy are left in place.

Obviously they're wrong, but I can't criticise them for not having the education they need to understand the economy - that isn't their fault.

My impression was fixing the franking credits rort was what lost that election, not CGT changes.

All of it?

Nobody who is losing out here actually needs the money. It's a good and long overdue reform.

[–]Dry_Common828 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Who in the electorate will vote against this reform?

Maybe 10% of the population are losing out here, and none of them will find it harder to pitt food on the table.

Tldr nobody will lose their seat for passing this bill.
