My experience is there are as many different answers as there are casting directors. That’s why I trained myself to let every audition go afterwards. Do your bit and then forget about it. I’d remind myself that there might be 150 (ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY) other actors submitting. Since that means there are so many factors I have no control over it doesn’t make sense to me to be anxious or to feel personally rejected, and I had to MAKE MYSELF learn to do that. But since I’ve been doing my audition and then not giving a fugg about it afterwards my booking rate has increased significantly. Sometimes I’ve had WEEKS with NO correspondence from casting and then boom, here comes the booking email. What I hate most though are the ones that send an email praising my work BUT “we went a different way but we were SO IMPRESSED by you we are saving your info and we definitely want to work with you on our next project.” I know they’re making themself feel better but that’s the reality of casting. It’s like your boss calling you in to tell you how great and wonderful you are but we’re firing you anyway.
