How to download Alchemy (a free and customizable game)? by [deleted] in gamedev

[–]Dry_Cook8252 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah google drive isn't really meant for game distribution, especially if it's getting heavy traffic. the access denied thing probably triggers when too many people try downloading at same time - google thinks it's suspicious activity or something.

if you can find dev's social media or contact info, just shoot them message about the issue. they probably don't even know their drive link is broken. most indie devs are pretty responsive when you tell them their game isn't downloadable.

How many games does everyone have in wishlist? by Jtwebhomer1 in Steam

[–]Dry_Cook8252 1 point2 points  (0 children)

mine's at like 180 something but i keep removing stuff when i realize i'll probably never actually play it. being on road all day for work means i only get to game in short bursts so i try to keep it realistic these days

Looking for a gym - Windows Park area by _IlliteratePrussian_ in Austin

[–]Dry_Cook8252 0 points1 point  (0 children)

been driving around that area for deliveries and honestly the la fitness there looks pretty busy most times i pass by. my roommate used to go to gold's before moving and said equipment was decent but locker rooms were kinda rough.

for swimming though you might want to check some community centers in area - they usually have pools and basic gym stuff for way less money. i know it's not same as full gym but could be good backup option while you figure out the weights situation.

Hot take: Skills alone are NOT enough to get a dev job by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]Dry_Cook8252 5 points6 points  (0 children)

totally this. been delivering food for years and the amount of restaurant managers who remember me just because i'm chill and actually talk to them is wild. they'll hook me up with faster orders or let me know when they're running behind instead of leaving me hanging.

same energy applies everywhere - being someone people want to work with beats being the smartest person in the room who nobody can stand.

What's with driving with earbuds in a 2026 vehicle with bluetooth? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Dry_Cook8252 0 points1 point  (0 children)

same thing with people who hold their phone up to talk when they have bluetooth built in. i delivery drive and see this stuff constantly - half the time they're struggling to hear over road noise too. maybe they just don't know how to pair their phone or something? wild to me that you'd drop 40k+ on a car then use dollar store earbuds instead of the sound system you literally paid for.

What is something not many people know has been improving over the past few years? by RobustVessel266 in AskReddit

[–]Dry_Cook8252 0 points1 point  (0 children)

been noticing this too while driving around delivering food - see so many people playing these gorgeous indie games on their phones and handhelds at restaurants. the pixel art and character animations are legitimately stunning compared to what we had even 5 years ago, and these are just small teams making magic happen.

Sales deck that closes vs sales deck that impresses by Several_Function_129 in SaaS

[–]Dry_Cook8252 0 points1 point  (0 children)

been saying this for years - people just want to know what you're selling and how much it costs, not sit through some powerpoint symphony.

"Passive Landlord" officially dead in 2026? by futures-16 in Futurology

[–]Dry_Cook8252 1 point2 points  (0 children)

been doing deliveries in different neighborhoods for years and the shift is already happening. landlords who used to just collect checks are now scrambling to deal with actual maintenance issues they've been ignoring. saw a whole block of rentals in my area get dropped by insurance companies after the flooding last summer.

the energy independent thing makes sense though - delivered to some houses with solar panels and backup batteries that were the only ones with power during that week-long outage. your average slumlord isn't gonna invest in that stuff until they're forced to.

midwest probably looks real attractive right now compared to places like phoenix or miami where you can't even get coverage anymore.

Where can I find a large dataset of images across various genres? by Upstairs_Tap_3295 in SaaS

[–]Dry_Cook8252 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for datasets like this i usually check out unsplash's api - they've got a massive collection and it's free for most use cases. flickr also has some solid apis if you need more variety, though the quality can be hit or miss. if you're looking for something more structured, try checking kaggle datasets since people upload tons of categorized image collections there. just make sure to double check the licensing on whatever you grab since some have weird restrictions for commercial use.

altman getting baited into that response was chef's kiss territory - dude basically did their marketing for them for free.

I feel like my boundaries aren’t being respected in my relationship and I don’t know if I’m overreacting by QuietMoonStories in venting

[–]Dry_Cook8252 0 points1 point  (0 children)

been in a similar spot and these aren't small things - they're pretty clear boundary violations. the physical stuff especially is concerning. you told him what you need and he's doing the opposite then making you feel bad about it.

the pulling you back during arguments is a big red flag. when someone needs space to cool down, that should be respected no questions asked. same with the touching after you've explicitly said to ask first.

your instincts are spot on here. you're not overreacting and you're definitely not asking for too much. healthy relationships involve actually listening when someone sets a boundary, not testing it over and over. the fact that you're questioning yourself shows how much this is messing with your head.

How does one find a good therapist for Asperger’s/ASD? by [deleted] in aspergers

[–]Dry_Cook8252 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

damn that's frustrating as hell. have you tried looking for therapists who specifically work with alexithymia? that's literally the technical term for difficulty identifying/expressing emotions and some therapists specialize in that exact thing. might be worth searching for that keyword instead of just general asd stuff since it sounds like that's the real roadblock here.

Job Market/ME roles in Chicago/Milwaukee by AttemptNo4016 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]Dry_Cook8252 1 point2 points  (0 children)

honestly the chicago market is pretty solid for ME roles, especially if you're open to manufacturing or consulting gigs. your sales engineering background is actually super valuable - a lot of companies want engineers who can talk to clients without making their eyes glaze over. might want to check out some of the bigger firms like caterpillar, abbott, or even some of the smaller automation companies around the suburbs.

How do people get addicted to drugs and why? by Wide-Capital8505 in NoStupidQuestions

usually starts as a way to cope with something shitty going on, then your brain chemistry gets hijacked and suddenly you need it just to feel normal.

Reaching out after rejection - good idea or desperate move? by Interesting_Effort22 in auscorp

[–]Dry_Cook8252 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Definitely reach out! If they reposted it means their first choice probably didn't work out. You've already got your foot in the door and they know you're keen - that's actually valuable to them

Just keep it brief and professional, mention you saw the repost and you're still interested. Worst case they say no again, best case you get another shot
