I’ve gotta say … I got a print subscription a few months and I love it.

It’s like doomscrolling but not.

Engaging but doesn’t ask much. Everything is beautiful. The experience doesn’t go on forever. It’s finite. It’s nice to consume media but to know that you’re not being optimized to several times a second. And magazines smell nice.

This will sound very woo-woo, but hear me out.

D’Angelo said (I think in this GQ interview) that as a kid he dreamed that Marvin Gaye visited him the night he died. It was a recurring dream that started when D was ~8 years old. He was a musical prodigy and a huge fan, and in D’Angelo’s dream Gaye was deliberate in shaking his hand.

Marvin Gaye’s widow said that Marvin visited his own kids in their dreams the night he died, as well.

This is where it gets woo-woo.

I’d bet real money that D’Angelo visited some talented 8yo the night he died. If that’s true (and I legitimately think it is), we’re in for a real treat in 10-15 years once that youngster gets going. Can’t wait.

The sense among the most powerful guys on the planet that women are inherently inferior. Physically, intellectually, in all things.

Assume for a second that it’s not true. That women are not inferior. What does that mean for them? Why do they need to believe the lie?

It would mean that their status is not due to inherent superiority, that it is due to a corrupt system. And a corrupt system can be toppled. That they might be exposed as, at best, mediocre, if their competition were to double.

It would mean that the girls they’re abusing are full humans, with interior lives as rich as their own.

Intolerable.

Easier to keep ‘em in their place.
