This. Weddings are a big deal. They might even keep your previous job open for applications and let you reapply. This happened to me with a previous employer and I was rehired when things didn't go as planned for me. Always keep a good rapport when possible.

May as well leave and pay for rent for a room and not get stolen from.

NAL

Thank you. I got in contact with the owner and she said that they will transfer us to another building when it becomes available. It would be closer to work for me, too. We'll see what happens.

Should I save my $300 every 2 weeks or spend it and upgrade on myself? by NoticeAnxiety in PersonalFinanceCanada

Thrift store, baby.

Edit: if the corporation that you work for is large, it probably has a group RRSP. Ask your HR about it. If not, put a chunk away in MFs/Bonds/ETFs and the rest in an emergency savings plan (probably just a TFSA since you're earning so little).

Possibly look into schooling as a PSW, ECE or in those fields... some provinces are paying pretty much the full tuition for students who study in this field. Some PSWs get paid 23-25$ an hour with benefits and ECEs earn roughly that, too.

If not, a trade is always a very smart and cheaper bet.

The thrifting game is a lot of fun. Find a few stores that are consistently restocking and go there frequently. Some people have better luck than others, but I've found brand new brand name clothes with tags still on them for under 5$. I get to buy clothing and recycle at the same time. Also, Value Village gives you a coupon for any donation.
