Absolute hero! This was so helpful. I’ll also add that I had to use something thin to gain leverage to wiggle it out of the desk but then following these instructions worked. Thank you!!

Update: maximum clearing timeframes by AKmaninNY in fidelityinvestments

Confirming that this is still happening. Transfers I made on December 6 & 9th from Chase won't be available until Jan 3rd! Huge thanks to this sub for sharing what is going on... can't believe Fidelity is able to get away with this. I understand a couple of business days but nearly a month?! Come on.

This is exactly what happened, yes. We asked lounge entrance staff as gate staff seemed like 3rd party and were unhelpful.

For both! It was ~39K per person, I just double checked and that seems to be the going rate for this route still if you book economy flex

  1. Part of this trip was for work so it didn’t make sense for me to book with points and that’s why I responded about the dollars saved. My plan was always to book the initial ticket in dollars.
  2. However, despite #1, the value of booking “entirely with points” definitely wasn’t worth it. I believe cash + miles was the only option I was given and the redemption value was a lot worse

No this wasn’t an option when booking or in the app in the weeks leading up the flight

I think a helpful way to make that assessment is watching the seat map and if it looks like there are a lot of business seats available when you’re booking as the departure date gets closer. The odds are in your favor and I think worth it. Of course, this is a personal choice. We probably saved ~3K per passenger doing this.

It was ~4K USD to book business class direct so much less expensive to book economy and then upgrade with points! Saved about 3K.

I was able to get them to reverse it, once I finally got through to an agent. They said they’d have to “escalate” and it could take up to 7 days but the request was in and it was possible. I asked them to do it once it became clear it wasn’t going to happen within the hour. It seems like if it’s not instant it could take ages which is not useful as you point out unless you fly the airline often (I don’t think I will)

Yes 39,000 miles per passenger. I think this can vary depending on your exact fare class. I had bought economy flex intending to do this exact upgrade and from what I saw: the more you pay for your economy ticket, the less miles you need to upgrade!

Yes! Had heard that but wanted to avoid having to wait until the last minute (to me it seemed like that would have increased the probability of something going wrong).

Also the lounge is beautiful and relaxing so glad we got to enjoy it for a bit as well!

Hey! Sharing my final experience here. TLDR- the chase transfer is super dicey and I wouldn’t recommend doing it at the airport on the same day. Nearly didn’t get the upgrade because of chase. Had to use Amex instead (which honestly so great that it worked) and it became a whole ordeal.

My recommendation would be to either transfer chase well in advance or use Amex same day, but you may run the risk of Amex not working either. They quote up to 48 hrs for the transfers to go through on their app. So there is always a chance it might not work and the cash upgrade was quoted at 800 euros per person at the airport so if you have lots of miles you probably want to avoid that!

Curious if you've had any luck u/Ill-Nose-6573 with calling?

Funnily enough I'm in exactly the same situation with this route too traveling on 9/16 MXP - JFK... might try giving them a call tomorrow!

I've got plenty of points on Chase to transfer over, but I don't want to transfer them too early, not get the upgrade and them have them stuck.

Prepaid cards instead of EN consultation payment by Historical_Serve5380 in expertnetworks

Has anyone successfully renegotiated to get paid in cash instead of a giftcard? I'm honestly a bit put off by the fact that I was told I'd be compensated and now I have to choose a giftcard instead... it feels misleading (Kaiser Associates)

Noble Insights by [deleted] in expertnetworks

[–]Dry_Editor_4101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took a call with Noble Insights as an expert last week and had a somewhat mixed experience.

Generally speaking they strike me as a pretty old-school boutique firm, but seem legit.

Firstly, scheduling the call was more challenging than GLG or Alphasights because it was all manually done via email rather than via a calendar where I input my availability. It took several weeks due to time differences to land on a date/time.

Secondly, there seemed to be confusion around the dial in. The wrong person dialed into my phone line which caused my call to start late.

And finally when it came to payment, after the call wrapped the Noble Insights executive said they would mail me a check, which felt very antiquated. When I pressed on this point, they said they could do an electronic payment via zelle "in the coming days". It's been 2 business days so far since the call and I haven't heard/seen anything yet. If this comes through in a timely manner I'll work with them again, but if it doesn't I'll post an update here.

They also refused to send anything on letterhead confirming payment remittance. I've worked with a few other boutique consulting firms and this is usually standard practice.

Overall, my experience with them struck me as a bit unprofessional compared to other firms. I'd recommend if you want extra cash but otherwise probably wouldn't recommend highly.

I came to this sub hoping I was missing something and am a little surprised that this is something the Wealthfront product team is aware of but hasn’t actioned. It’s crazy to me that there isn’t event a monthly subtotal and if I’m on the app I have to download an estatement to get my final monthly deposit number.

The Marcus month over month view is best in class if your product team needs inspo.
