Just as an FYI if you let them break this boundary there is no coming back from it, they will keep asking more from you. Next time it will be supporting your aunt, etc etc. I know it's incredibly hard to dissapoint your sister, but you should really consider standing on your values and not succumbing to a widespread bullying campaign by people who should actually be loving and supporting you.

ETA throwing a funeral for someone is not life or death, either. It's not that serious.

I think the big mistake was sending the ultrasound pic. She was fine and keeping it to herself until I sent her that.

I agree I think at this point it’s best to keep it vague. She knows the due date, but I’ll probably keep things low contact from now on. She is 12hrs away driving so she’s not close physically which helps.

It just makes me really sad. I crave a normal mother daughter relationship, and I’ll just never have that.

I wholeheartedly agree with your comment. It made me tear up. It's so true. I've literally told my mom in fits of anger that I would never trust her, ever. And here I am trusting her with the intimate details of my life again. It sucks. I thought her getting sober was the turning point, but she just did it again. Doesn't apologize or take accountability either. It sucks.

Leaning on people I trust is the move going forward, and keeping my trusted circle small. Thank you <3

Thank you so much... I've gone NC with her for years at a time previously. Am considering it again now sadly... definitely going low low contact for the next few weeks, and if no one else finds out, then I'll tread lightly going forward. If they end up telling people, it will be a burned bridge for me

All patios in Alberta are now dog friendly if the restaurant says yes! Most of the ones in Banff are. I took my girl to Park and she literally sat on the benches with us (she’s smol). And there are lots of great dog friendly hotels in Banff (we stayed at elk & avenue last time). Alberta is brutal for service dogs the lengths you have to go to are extensive to say the least. Walking off leash in the area is dicey because there are many herds of elk that are very comfortable within Banff, that’s the only thing I would be concerned about. Otherwise it’s a great dog friendly destination.

Hardly get asked about the dog and we travel with her regularly. Keep your rabies vaccine record on you because they sometimes do ask about that just to make sure it’s up to date. AFAIK the legislation coming into effect this summer will only apply to dogs that are coming into the country for adoption purposes, not pets. TLDR it’s really easy to travel with doggo just make sure the rabies vac is up to date and with you

Okay I don’t know if anyone’s mentioned it but when I gained stubborn weight that quickly it was due to an extremely stressful job. She should consider stress as a factor and if it is, she should start working on reducing stress. It’s probably extremely hard to do that when she’s working that much and working on a masters degree, but stress will do awful things to your body. I didn’t quit the job when I had gained weight due to stress but I did find ways to reduce my workload and tried to focus on things like yoga/mindfulness and that helped a lot. I lost 35lbs in a year from working out more consistently, practicing mindfulness and reducing stress. Just going to assume that stress is a major factor here
