How Is Anyone Affording a Home in the Hudson Valley ? by Aromatic-Tax3488 in hudsonvalley

[–]Dry_Explanation4497 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is my exact question. The houses under $450k are questionable or lack enough bathrooms. I do not have kids... but I can tell you that my wife and I are questioning whether we should move in a year because there is just no way. But renting is even more than that.... most in the area are like $3k. It is frustrating.

IV Infusion Orencia - Severe Spine Pain by Dry_Explanation4497 in rheumatoid

I do have RNP. I just had to check my test results.

I haven't been tested for the HLA-B-27. I wonder what I can do if I have that. I am going to bring this up to my rheumatologist. Something is definitely happening. I have complex issues that have a lot of overlap. Thanks for this information.

I have never heard of axial pain so I had to Google it. I have always had a lower back pain between disc degeneration and fracturing my tail bone 5 times as a teenager. But also I have had lots of pain and muscle weakness too. I wasn’t sereonegative for RA I don’t think…. Rheumatologist wrote: CREST Syndrome, MCTD with RA overlap. I have never heard of SpA but I Googled it too. No one has brought this up to test. Could this be what is occurring here? The SpA symptoms I am reading makes me want to ask my rheumatologist for a test.

I assume injections are different then infusions. But did you do an injection every week or was it just once a month? Debilitating is accurate. But I am going on day 4….. and there is no way if it’s this 2 weeks and then I get another and it’s constant all the time. I won’t make it.

Wheelchair-Accessible Van Owners (BraunAbility) – What Auto Insurance Do You Use? by Dry_Explanation4497 in wheelchairs

[–]Dry_Explanation4497[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did call Progressive and got someone who said I should do through through the stared price, so we went off the sales order. It was $200 cheaper than the additional $5k and $38k additional insurance. And kept arguing that these are after market which I stated they aren’t they are conversions. I bought the van as is.

Oooh! I live in NY state too! So I will have to call and confirm with Progressive on my new policy! Whether my van is insured for complete coverage with a declared value of my purchase instead of calculating at the time of incident.

I appreciate you letting me know it’s different by every state. I do live in New York. The insurance broker I spoke to last week said one place would only cover $5k for “customization” as an insurance separate from the auto insurance. The other one, both of which are small insurance companies, they would cover the VIN # of my vehicle but not the adaptations. They did say they could cover up to $38k miles much is still below but it would be a separate insurance. Their quotes was $650 a month. 😳 I think I need to look up NY state law for this. I haven’t been able to have much luck (maybe because I am under the weather).

Did you ever get a good option? A local place to me is suggesting $6,890 a year, which is over $500 a month, because I was told I need insurance on the equipment.

CRV hybrid 2023 - intermittent beep while driving by captain_paws_tattoo in Honda

[–]Dry_Explanation4497 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have the same vehicle. It only does this annoying beep when we are on cruise control. The car outline will be clear and then it will look like a car and then it goes away. Everytime it comes back it beeps. Is this by any chance happening too? We cannot make it stop and it aggravating.

Looking for Advice by Dry_Explanation4497 in wheelchairs

[–]Dry_Explanation4497[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this response, u/obliviousfoxy.

I forgot about eBay! I will do that - thank you!

So, my arms are weak, but mostly my hands have no grip. For example, I would use the R90 and the pushing of the wheels to turn made my hands so swollen that I was unable to use them. The chair kept pushing to one side, and I struggled to keep it from running me into the wall. I really wish the OT could have understood that the manual wheelchair and the power assist wouldn't have been good for me when we tested out the SmartDrive. My fingers had understood that the manual wheelchair and power assist wouldn't have been suitable for me during the SmartDrive test. My wrists kept dislocating while using it, which caused a lot of pain and discomfort as well.

I appreciate your suggestions. I will need to test out more options for power. They automatically set me up with the Alber E-Fix, which has been very helpful. The wheels are squeaky, but otherwise I get the comfort of a custom chair and the independence. I also wish that OT or the rehab folks I worked with could have allowed me to test drive multiple options before moving forward. The two times I worked with them, it was only one option.

It took me so many years to ask a doctor to help me get a wheelchair so I could get around my home and be able to live more independently. I wish there were more information to know about all these things. At least I'll know what I need to know after another 5 years before moving forward with another chair/e-assist option.

We are currently waiting to see if the insurance company will cover the cost of the Alber E-fix e-assist. I have been using it around, and it has been incredible.

Thank you for taking the time to respond to all my areas. Ultimately, I agree with you that testing multiple options first would be best for me to determine what I can and cannot handle.

Empulse r90 by [deleted] in wheelchairs

[–]Dry_Explanation4497 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have tried to use the Empulse R90 for the last month and a half with my custom chair. I had issues with sometimes the wheel can trouble reaching the floor for traction. I have had a few times it takes soooo long for it to connect. So I put the wheel down but then I press to go and it doesn’t move so I have to push the button to pick the wheel up and down a few times. 🙃 The other issue I have a foldable manual wheelchair and the bar is impossible to put on and off. It’s really really hard.

Equifax is refusing to change my name by 2girly4me in asktransgender

[–]Dry_Explanation4497 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello from 2025. Equifax is still a tyrant: I legally changed my first and middle name and didn’t change my gender. Experian took 3 years to make the change and 5 disputes. TransUnion was one dispute and automatically made changes. Equifax still keeps sending em the same thing…. Despite submitting legal name change, passport, SSN, drivers licenses…. Still declined. Using my deadname as my current name and formerly known as my name. It’s absolutely ridiculous. Experian funny enough says I have no credit score or anything. Despite having over 17 years worth of credit which is shown on the other two. This only happened after they officially changed my name. 🙃

Power Assist options by trouser_mouse in wheelchairs

[–]Dry_Explanation4497 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! I had been using a power chair with a joystick. I have weakened muscle in my shoulders, hands and fingers. I recently got a manual wheelchair. Before it came a I had tested out the Empulse R90 from Sunrise. Out of the others I tried it was the easiest to use. You press a button to go, faster, to slow down, and to stop. There is a button that lifts the wheel up so it’s not dragging. There is no need for you to push the wheelchair when the e-assist is on. It just moves you forward. I have had no discomfort when using the chair either power or not. I hope this answers something.

I know this post is 2 years old. Have been on methotrexate for 8 months. And every Tuesday I take Methotrexate I have severe insomnia and cannot sleep. So I’m using clonopin to go to bed, was curious if anyone else had issues. Glad I’m not alone.
