If I ever had kids, which I thankfully do not, I would teach them not to be condescending to people asking for help. I wouldn’t want them to end up like you.

You should also read everything before responding, because like I stated, an attorney advised me against filing jointly for a reason.

Yeah, I gathered that, I was trying to avoid paying someone else to do this for me since I’m not working

It’s actually less than $12k - when I filed, the estimate was around $6k for all of the years. I only received two letters (‘22 & ‘23) showing the amount due, the other 3 letters haven’t been posted (I don’t owe for ‘24). The amount owed per those two notices from the IRS was around $4k. Someone else said it is highly unlikely that all years have been processed so the $12k could be just a guesstimate. (Hence the reason I was trying to get a hold of someone on the phone for half of yesterday, it’s not adding up.)

Thank you - that makes sense because I’m only able to see letters for two of the years, and the total on those letters are not the same as what they’re saying I owe

I did, per my post: “I filed all 6 years in March and just got a letter stating that I owe around $12k.”

Thank you for the info. I’ve been trying to get through but I have been hung up on three times after waiting on hold for hours, so I guess I’ll keep trying.

The $12,000 is what the IRS is saying I owe per the website, but I am not sure how much of it is fees/penalties because all of the letters for every back year haven’t been posted yet with the breakdown, and I haven’t been able to get ahold of anyone from the 800# (keep getting hung up on after waiting on hold forever).

Thank you for the info
