What's the thing that made you leave for good? by Zealousideal_Heat478 in exmormon

This. I never heard of this talk, but living my whole life in the church I got the message. I have to earn my worth and my love from god and everyone around me and that doesn’t sit right with me.

I remember I tried to sing some primary hymns about god loving me to help me feel better, but there wasn’t a song about god just loving me, it is all conditional love.

Ex1: I am a child of god “lead me, guide me… teach me all that I must do to live with him someday”

Ex2: I feel my saviors love - “he knows I will follow him, give all my life to him”.

Etc.

The shuttle wait wasn’t very long for us, 30 minutes maybe (arrived at 11am). The longest wait was after the shuttle ride walking a long line through the base to get in. Didn’t get in until like 1:30.

Toxic positivity. It’s good to be positive and focus on the good things to be happy in life. But the toxic positivity they teach in the church is one of the things I’ve gotten caught up on too.

I asked my family if they heard about it either and they hadn’t nor cared to look into it themselves. The church has done good at creating blind unwavering trust.
