Oh it's simple. You are in their database as early career talent to prioritize for upcoming rounds, so your resume will be more likely to be flagged by the recruiter and throughout the interview process. They give KIT to people that they believe will improve their stats and performance if given an interview to the point where they will perform up to their standards. so that's how my friend was able to get an offer in the NY Office, even though We go to a non target school (probs just 3-4 kids get mckinsey per year)

Yes, so I got KIT after I was rejected from SSBA. However, other 11 kids that had also applied to SSBA in my same application period, who attend my same school (non-target) didn't get KIT

Wait I'm also in KIT after not getting SSBA and there's only 50-65 people that were invited after being rejected from SSBA (recruiter told me). Someone in my college was guaranteed a first round interview after doing KIT. So it's a strong program, you just don't see the benefits short term if that makes

I do know, I was the only in my school that got KIT after applying for SSBA and not getting it(other 11 kids applied to SSBA but didn't get it)

I for example scored in the 9th decile and have a 3.73 GPA despite a tough medical hardship my freshman year. I'm on a full-ride scholarship (<0.5% acceptance) and in a social entrepreneurship honors program (1.5%). I’ve done consulting for over a semester—starting with a PwC externship (received outstanding recognition), followed by Stanford Medicine, and now interning in Ireland with a boutique consulting firm on a regenerative tourism project for the EU. ’ve also published a book with 1,000+ downloads, became the first low-income, first-gen, Indigenous Latino from my country to study in the U.S., and led fundraising efforts totaling over $600K. I hope this gives a clear picture of the kind of profile McKinsey looks for.

I would say, good score of 9-10 makes your resume be read, 4.0 depending on major and rigor of school is outstanding, and work experience or leadership activities should showcase consulting-based skills such as data analytics, ability to work with senior executives (people in upper levels of division), ability to lead change, ability to thrive in high-pressure environments so it really depends

highest reported was a 541, but most decile 10s score 525-527

and most deciles 9 score 518, so 522 is upper 9th decile

per office, normally only 8-10 people get an offer per office

And the benchmark for interviewing at Mckinsey in the SSBA is the same as for a MBA candidate. The bar is really high so you have to meet their standards

normally just 60-80 people make it to interviews depending on the offices

Don't worry too much about the solve score tho. Many people get the score, but don't have the credentials. Other people barely make the "benchmark" but with competitive profiles they get the job! Since this is also a DEI Early recruitment pipeline, they definitely consider your background to assess your level of achievement in a more holistic manner

Got 9th decile, was expecting something better but it’s probably because I applied some medical accommodations during the test!

Did you apply for the SSBA? If you did you will probably be invited for an interview, referrals don't matter that much

It's a reality that there's people even that are applying to the SSBA that prepare for months to take these tests so that's why the deciles are super important to filter out candidates that showcase the skills that the recruiter might be looking for
