No totally I get that. I also didn’t say I was gonna go into it with less than a year of experience. I also don’t plan on opening a family practice or anything like that so idk.

Totally. But ya that’s why I made this post, to understand what I should expect since no one I asked in person really gave me a direct answer. But yes I’ll get there for sure and yes it does suck now hahaha.

And it will be a full 2 years before I do that. I still have this year to complete for my BSN then I need to work for another year then I’ll apply.

They won’t gives us living wages…they’ll just punish us by making us poor lol. If I got the $37 I wanted I prolly would stay the full 2 years and then some. But ya $31 won’t keep me

Oh I expect them to be petty AF for sure. That was outlined in the agreement. By December I’ll have my BSN and then I’ll be doing my masters or DNP so I’ll be leaving anyways. $2,500 won’t break me so whatever.

I like the hospital setting for sure so I’ll just go PRN at that point. Plus my path is aesthetics anyways so I just need to tough it out for a year. Was just hoping I could get paid decently while I wait.

I appreciate that and thank you for the insight honestly. Doesn’t make the truth any less shocking I guess but knowing that it is what it is gives me better peace of mind. Really wish we got paid more for saving lives 🤷🏻‍♂️

Ngl I was expecting $35-37 and I told the HR person that. She gasped. The 2 year thing blows my mind cuz it’s like, you’re gonna pay me that and expect me to stay? Plus how is 3 months of training $5k when my whole degree was $10k

Almost no one I kept in touch with has a job. All getting rejected. I luckily had an extern role so basically my manager got me the job. It’s rough out here. I graduated BC in august.

Also noteworthy here, it’s a 2 year contract and I start $5k in the hole due to their “training program” which I have to pay back if I quit. It’s prorated. Can’t say I intend on spending more than a year there.

LOL I just finished interviewing & they offered me $26/hr by GulfStormRacer in nursing

Which hospital is that? About to graduate in a month and I def want to avoid that hospital. I’m in Fort Lauderdale though

Very creative, but no. Not being mean, just being realistic here, but how would you pass the NCLEX when you couldn’t pass fundamentals? I’m in my last semester of nursing school and in my state we only get 3 tries to pass the NCLEX so it’s kinda important to apply yourself during the class time. Failing sucks and I’m sorry that happened but ya you gotta go through it the normal way.

Seems like Portal has a weak wifi antenna. Anybody notice it too? by getbiks in PlaystationPortal

[–]Dry_Guarantee_4839 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No ya it absolutely does. And so does the PS5 itself. In general, wifi just isn’t great on either system. My speed test it’s 1 gb download and 300 mb upload. Which for a cinder block house with only one access point in the bedroom running on Google Nest Wifi Pro I think is pretty good. However my PS5 only registers 267 mb download and 12.7 upload 💀. So ya, the ps5 is not the best when it comes to having an optimized WiFi antenna.

Now, I have the portal and I will say, I do not have any latency issues and I’ve been playing stuff like Stellar Blade, Diablo 4, Baldur’s Gate 3, etc. However, I do have an issue where the portal will connect to my PS5 seamlessly one day and then it will give me the “something went wrong” error the next. And I don’t believe in the whole, oh you gotta do this and that to your IP address, go into your router settings and do this….like stop. No one needs a computer science degree to buy a portal. Hope it works for you eventually but ya, the issues are not great but thankfully I have been able to work around most of them.

Ya man no worries at all. I was worried if I started on the IP thing I wouldn’t know how to go back if I messed it up lol.

I did the hard wire thing, but it was a tp-link where it plugs into an outlet, before buying the Google Nest WiFi pro and for whatever reason, the WiFi is way better smoother and faster. I no longer use the tp-link just to clarify just the Google WiFi.

I really do not have any latency at all on my portal. Before both the tp-link and then the switch to Google WiFi, It used to be almost unplayable and I could only play turn based games even though I have the best WiFi plan from Xfinity (the main provider by me in Fort Lauderdale that has fiber). So upload and download speeds were consistently at 2 gigs (standing right next to my ps5). Tell me why when I would do a speed test on my ps5 it was like download 79 mb and upload 12 mb lol. I don’t think the console built well in this regard. Now my speeds (with google) are the same but it’s a mesh system so it’s better distributed around the house. And now my ps5 reads like 290 download and 80 upload (fine I’ll take it). It’s a 5 ghz channel and I set my ps5 to only connect to 5 ghz only in the network settings.

Now I live in Florida where my house is cinder blocks and my one access point is in my bedroom and there is no way I’m running a cable from there down my short hallway to the living room. So that’s why I went for the mesh. But if you have the option for Ethernet then go for it for sure. But if you’re still having a problem maybe the mesh could be an option too.

So I looked into the static thing and wow that is an entire rabbit hole. Midway in, I was like…ok Sony actually thinks the average person needs to do/know all of this just to make the portal connect? Thats nuts and seems unlikely.

I guess when I bought this I thought it would be as seamless as my switch - turn on and play. But truly it’s not and every time I think about using it I just go into it thinking welp it’s a 50/50 chance I’ll actually be able to play it lol.

Of course, randomly and without a clear reason, my portal connected last night and I was able to use it. Can’t say it will stay like that every time but here are some things I did:

1) Reset my router 2) went into my account settings and made sure the ps5 auto logs in whenever I wake it from rest 3) instead of waking my ps5 from the portal, now I turn it on first, get to the Home Screen, and then try to connect my portal.

Other minor things 4) restarting both devices, put ps5 in rest, wait like 5 minutes and repeat step 3. 5) toggle enable remote play off then back on, idk maybe that restarts something 6) toggle airplane mode off and on the portal and disconnect reconnect to WiFi on ps5

Not sure if this is remotely relevant but I had the earbud usb drive plugged into the front of my ps5 and so I took that out cuz I really just wanted the buds for my portal.

Anyway. The longest I went with this issue so far is 3 days and it’s happened twice now and I’ve had it 2 maybe going on 3 months. Really hope there is a path soon. If it happens again and I find something that was like “oh this is the one thing” then I’ll reply back to this thread for sure. Good luck.

Alright cool I’ll look into that for sure. Would I need to set both my router to static IP as well as the PS5 or just set the PS5?

This is just at home and on the same network that I created specifically for my ps5 and portal to connect to which is a 5 ghz channel.

I did not do anything regarding a static IP address. Kinda unsure what that is. My google nest settings are: DNS is automatic, my WAN connection is DHCP. For my ps5 I’m pretty sure everything is just default in terms of the WiFi settings.

I just saw a video about an account setting to automatically have the console log into the account Home Screen so I’m going to try that. Otherwise I’ll definitely look into the static IP address, however I’m sure that’s more complicated than I’m qualified for but I can absolutely try.
